Great stay at the Royal Oak. High quality hotel and great service. We stayed in the spacious family suite which was very modern and comfortable. Thank you for a great stay and looking after our family.
The new owners have retained the character and comfort of the Royal Oak but have improved the facilities. The food was nice but I donât understand why veg and potatoes are charged extra.
We had a lovely stay at The Royal Oak. Our room was gorgeous the beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed and more. I couldnât recommend this place enough it had a lovely feel and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
This is a great little find in a perfect, beautiful location. The staff are so friendly and helpful - we really wished we were staying longer and plan to come back shortly. The food (we had an evening meal and breakfast) was outstanding and such good value. We can't wait to return.
Lovely Hotel, out of way with great scenery. Staff is lovely and very welcoming and the food was great too!
Would have preferred a harder mattress but otherwise the room was super comfy and spacious. Would definitely go again.
Loved all the produce was local and excellent quality including toiletries. The food was delicious and staff very friendly and attentive. Hotel has been beautifully renovated recently and was spotless. Excellent location for so many fantastic walks, including Scafell Pike.
The Royal Oak is in a stunning location and there has clearly been a lot of investment in upgrading the facilities and decor. This has resulted in very stylish, thoughtfully designed, high quality accommodation.
The room & bathroom were gorgeous with good storage, a very comfortable bed and good quality fabrics, linen & towels.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean.
We very much enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast, both cooked well and with good quality ingredients.
The indoor spaces are well laid out, the courtyard was cool and peaceful and the garden was sunny and well tended.
The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the chap who checked us in and worked in the evening (he has dark hair and a beard but weâre sorry we didnât ask his name).
We would definitely recommend a stay here and are already planning to return.
The service was lovely on the Friday eve we had a meal which was ÂŁ70 which went on a tab but sadly after Iâd walked Scarfell pike the hotel had a power cut so we couldnât get showered eat warm food etc so I went home early. The hotel gave us ÂŁ75 refund which wasnât great as that was the cost of meal really so we got ÂŁ5 off the second nights stay which isnât great!
It was a really pleasant stay all staff was so lovely, everything was lovely and relaxing i would most definitely stay again, shame the weather let us down a bit but still had a great stay.
The only thing that was missing a mirror in the room to get ready hair etc.
Place was lovely, very clean and the breakfast was superb. But both me and my partner are in wheelchairs part time, I could not get hold of the hotel to say we would be using our chairs that weekend and would need downstairs accommodation. On arrival, before official check in time, I said do you have any downstairs rooms as we have our wheelchairs. I was told no, you are on the first floor, âItâs just one flight, itâs a weekend so we are fully bookedâ. No apology, we spent the weekend having to carefully go upstairs with one hand rail on the stairs. This has deteriorated my partners condition.
Unfortunately itâs unlikely we will stay there again due to this.
This hotel has a very special atmosphere which somehow makes you instantly relax. The hotel team are extremely helpful and the food is some of the best we have ever tasted. The bedrooms are small but that is the only slight downside. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the mattresses are very comfortable. Breakfast is 10/10. Parking is easy. The location is perfect. We can't wait to return.
Amazing stay at a beautiful property. Just off the Coast to Coast walk, this hotel was a perfect place to recover from a long walk. And the all-day tea/coffee and scones was a lifesaver. The rooms were nice and the food was delicious. Could not recommend more. They even had a place to fill up water bottles/bladders next to a gear drying room, which was a nice touch.
This was our first time at The Royal Oak Hotel. Staff were very friendly, and couldnât have been more helpful. Our room was modern with a rustic yet country feel, comfortable, spacious, and clean. Food was delicious. We had breakfast each morning and dined in the restaurant on the night. Staff were helpful and attentive.
The hotel is dog friendly, which was perfect as we have two Labs, which meant the could come with us.
