Kitchener is a lovely city with a small-town vibe that is located in the Saint Lawrence Lowlands of Southwestern Ontario.

The former German Mennonite town is now a thriving city with a lot of European heritage, much of which can be seen today. Kitchener is a culturally rich city with loads to offer any visitor.

Still, it is often missed by many, though its proximity to Toronto makes it an excellent choice for anyone that wants to explore a different kind of city.

In the center, THE MUSEUM features interactive art and science
exhibits.

Near sprawling Victoria Park, the Joseph Schneider Haus is a living-history museum recreating life in the 19th century. Part of the Waterloo Region museum, the Doon Heritage Village evokes early-1900s life with buildings such
as farmhouses and a blacksmith shop.

Do not recommend - NOT as pictured

This place is filthy and in desperate need of a deep cleaning & face lift. The home is in a state of disrepair, and unfit for rental. Shockingly, the owner feels the home is suitable to rent. The photos posted are professional & edited, giving a more clean & welcoming appearance. In reality the space is dark, tired, damaged & dirty.Some of the items (see pics):- The kitchen and bathroom ceilings are literally falling in from water damage (not shown in their pictures).- Light fixtures are dirty, full of dead bugs or not working.- Broken plastic dusty blinds on the windows that were so covered with grime you could hardly see out of them. - Floors still dirty on our arrival. - Stinking garbage still sitting in the cupboard from previous renters, that the cleaners had neglected to take out. - Cupboard under the sink was so filthy, it appeared to have never been cleaned, and a cigarette butt was found. - The kitchen advertised as “fully stocked” contained only a few utensils & old broken kitchen tools, most of them dirty. - There was no laundry soap & no dishwasher tabs, so nothing could be washed. The property manager did provide the items the next day.-No coffee pot.- Stained sheets on the bed. - Advertise a fire pit in the back yard, but it’s not a welcoming space - see photo included. There’s a tossed out mattress thrown in the back yard next to the pit, amidst a yard in desperate need of attention. - Beer bottle cap on the front porch, garbage on the lawn.

Awful - not a luxury home or anything close

So, this property is a low-end, dirty property in disrepair. I have many pictures to show paint peeling off of walls, old worn-out furniture, Beds without boxsprings, only old mattresses, and a yard you would not let a dog in. The yard was likely not cut or cared for for the entire summer. It was an awful experience. This provides an appalling reflection on VRBO, as who can trust what we, as consumers, are getting if this is represented as a luxury home rental?

Kitchener house

Initially we were having an issue because we didn’t know there would be people staying in the basement. The people in the basement were extremely disruptive. There was a strange smell coming from under the sink and one of the smoke detectors wasn’t secured to the ceiling. They sent someone out to fix this one but we were out at the time. There is only Netflix on the tv that we could find and the sofa bed actually did not have a mattress on it- this issue we didn’t discover until our last day there when my husband was trying to sort out why the couch kept sinking in. I did give a little lower score for the accuracy of the listing because we did not have 2 parking spots as there was people downstairs, the sofa bed didn’t exist, there were no towels on the beds as stated in the ad and only 5 towels overall for shower, and I feel like the ad should inform you others might be in the basement. The house is NOT soundproof by any means, but it seems to be fairly old. It is very close to a lot of amenities. Very good location. Having said all this - my toddler locked us all out one day by playing with the lock on the handle and Noni was kind enough to drive out to us from an hour away and help us out.

Nice but Dirty

The property is well located if you have things to do in Kitchener (close to the highway and everything else). The owners were responsive and accommodating, but the house is smaller than it looks in the pictures. When we arrived, it was quite dirty and had not been cleaned (the fridge was dirty, and there were other people's clothes and garbage in a closet), and the outside was full of garbage bags. Given the garbage outside, it was difficult to open the back gate, and there were even more bags in the backyard. This was disappointing.

Weekend with family

We stayed at this property because of its location. The pictures are quite accurate, the property was clean and cozy. The living/ dining room allowed us to have a small family gathering after my fathers funeral. We were worried 1 bathroom would be hard for 5 adults to get ready. What would be helpful is having a mirror in each bedroom to allow people different spaces for this activity. Recycling was interesting. They are very serious about recycling done appropriately. What would have helped is having the list that was sent to us before we arrived because recycling is quite different where we live. Outside of this we had a good stay.

A nice clean older home which has been updated. Beds are comfortable. Everything was supplied including linens, bath towels, cutlery and we even did some laundry in the included washer dryer which was perfect. Someone lives in the basement though (caretaker?) and had guests at 4:00am which woke us up one night but other than that we were very satisfied with the accommodations.
