The well-known cities of Rostock, Warnemünde, Bad Doberan, and Wismar, as well as the Baltic seaside resorts of Kühlungsborn, Heiligendamm, and Rerik, are all within easy reach by bike (approx. 10 to 15 km).
The village has various supermarkets, a bank, petrol stations, etc.. Places of interest in the village are the famous sinking mill and the East Rock Museum
