To the north of La Jolla is Torrey Pines, home to the Torrey Pines Golf Course, one of the nation's finest public golf courses and the site of the Farmers Insurance Open in late January or early February. Located around the course is the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, which offers paths and rock outcroppings to hike on as you make your way to pristine and often empty beaches.
