Staying on the Uros islands is highly recommended. The rate includes amazing breakfast and Dinners cooked for you. As well as boat transportation from Puno to the hotel. The staff arranged a tour for us to Taquile island and the rest of the parts of Uros islands. The cultural experience is amazing. The staff were so nice and attended to our every need. You won't get a chance ti stay on a floating island made of reeds anywhere else so we highly advise you to try it!
The island is beautiful and so is the rental lodge. Huge windows with seating out on a deck where you can enjoy a full view of the lake and mountains. Itâs very quiet there and although you can only get there by boat, they are very timely with picking you up and dropping you off. Communication beforehand was very good and they were responsive. We stayed here in the spring and at night it hit 31 degrees F and we had no heat. They did make our bed up with several layers of incredibly warm bedding and gave us hot water bottles, but it was still incredibly uncomfortable to be freezing in our room and in the dining room. Not to be too graphic, but it was so cold that I didnât want to go to the bathroom because I didnât want to expose any skin to the air. There is hot water - I took a 5 minute shower under a trickle of water and my husband took a shower about 3 hours later and all water pooped out 2 mins into his shower. There is an outlet in the room powered by solar power - enough to slowly charge electronics and enough to run a portable CPAP machine. They provided meals, which is fortunate since you have no way to access food otherwise. Because of that, we had thought meals were included in the rate, but we were charged 60 soles for a basic dinner of soup, steamed veggies, baked chicken breasts, and tea. Breakfast was included. Be prepared for the matriarch to come into the dining room to sell knitted souvenirs. Owners spoke almost no English.
