Escape to our charming little cabin, nestled on 15 acres of rolling pastureland and Christmas tree fields in the serene foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Built in the 1940s as a tenant farmer’s home, this hidden gem sits quietly up the hill behind our big old farmhouse, offering privacy and tranquility. Relax on the porch, watch the birds, and stargaze under clear mountain skies.
Located in Ashe County, in North Carolina’s northwest corner near the Virginia line, you’re just minutes from adventure:

-15 minutes to Grayson Highlands State Park
-20 minutes to White Top Mountain, Mount Rogers, the Appalachian Trail, and the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail
-Steps away from Helton Creek, a local favorite for fishing, just across the road
-Short drives to the New River and New River State Park

For a taste of local culture, explore nearby West Jefferson—a quaint town with boutique shops, cafes, a cheese factory, brewery, and a small museum in the historic courthouse. Hosts are Very easy to reach and helpful with educated answers to all my questions. The accommodations have everything you need. We hope to stay longer next time! The area suffered tremendous damage from Hurricane induced flooding last fall but community has shown their strength in overcoming such adversity.

Quaint remodeled tenant house

This is the second visit to this property. I enjoyed my stay there as much as the first time. Really like that it's a quiet peaceful place with birds, deer, rabbits and a nice view. The spring/stream running beside the house is great to listen to. The lightening bugs are also a hit with us. It's nice that the kitchen has small appliances, and also a few things in the bathroom that you may need. Plan on going back again, hope it's not 4 years before I can do it. I really like this place.

We loved our stay! It is so beautiful and so peaceful on this lovely farm. The cabin was very well stocked, comfy beds and everything we needed for a hiking weekend in Grayson Highlands. Just book it!

Girls Weekend for Trail Run at Grayson

Perfect location for our trail race, very comfortable cabin, beds very comfortable, had all necessary supplies and extra to make stay enjoyable. Loved seeing the deer and cows while sitting on the front porch. WiFi was great! Very happy with stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this rustic cabin. Great with two bedrooms and two baths. Easy access to Grayson Highlands SP and the Boone/West Jefferson area. Host was responsive and helpful throughout.

Fantastic stay and service

Host is extremely communicative and makes the stay easy. Had a last second adjustment, she was able to help, and was very fast to respond making the process very smooth. Love this part of the country. Have stayed here twice and will likely stay here again.

Late October Hiking Trip

Lovely cabin - I rented this for myself, a friend, and my dog for a 2-day hiking trip. I appreciate that each of bedroom had its own bathroom and that there was a little trail up the hill where I could walk my dog. We had a little snafu with internet availability in the unit, but it ended up not being an issue because hiking took up most of our day. Communication with the hosts was excellent. Ben kindly drove the route to Grayson Highlands Park ahead of my trip to verify the roads were clear after the area was hit by flooding - as Grayson had reopened by that point - and he also helped us with directions while we were getting in the first night. They did warn us cell coverage would be spotty and it was. My friend had Verizon and I had AT&T and we each only had one bar, but it was usually enough to get directions locked into Google Maps before the app switched into offline mode. Overall it was a lovely stay. We hiked Grayson and the Channels and seeing the stars on the hill behind the property, without light pollution or trees to block the sky, was beautiful.
