Good history, comfortable but food poor

Hotel has an amazing history. Rooms of good size, quiet and comfortable. Checkin friendly and quick. Slept well and room was ok. Only thing that let it down was the food which was not good value and service was poor. I'd like to think this was just an isolated occasion when it was very busy.

Excellent place to stay, staff very friendly and polit. Not enough staff, quint at the bar was constant and the restaurant was slow service. It was immediately evident that the staff were over worked. Outside tables were always full of glasses and plates, witnessed once the resident cat eating left over food off the tables.

Good location as a base for touring. Friendly and accommodating staff. Large car park. Menu disappointing though and different to that published online. The menu choices have been cut back since our stay this time last year. On our second evening we were told that they had run out of a particular wine that we liked! It's a pub! The only window in our room that is supposed to open was broken. It was still broken from our stay last year. As a result, the room got extremely hot very quickly in the morning. Unfortunately, no ghosts this time either ;-) We will return as it is a unique place to stay and the staff are lovely.

Far better than expected, the little things like a qr code for facilities and things to do in area, biscuits, hot chocolate, peacefulness, a guest lounge with a view and a breakfast cooked and served to order, with fruit, cereals, toast, cheeses and pastries from the breakfast buffet. If you want guests to return, this is how to do it!

We have stayed at the Jamaican Inn before as we like the location. Easy access to North and South Cornwall beaches like Padstow and Looe. Really good receptionist - friendly and welcoming. Room really nice in the new part. Wanted a relaxing coffee and biscuits after the journey. No biscuits - when asked they had run out. The kind receptionist gave us free crisps from the bar instead. Good meal in the restaurant in the evening and good service. The evening sleep was ok although the room was very very hot. Breakfast - really terrible. Shown to seat at 9.20. Had cereal and drinks to start. Very limited selection
