Welcome to Highland Cottage, a beautifully restored 1920s home just 700 metres from Leura Mall, tucked away on a quiet leafy street.



Once built by miners when Leura was still surrounded by bushland, this charming cottage now blends heritage character with modern comfort. Picture yourself sipping a glass of wine by the fireplace or enjoying a cup of tea in the nostalgic sunroom — it’s easy to imagine the stories of those who once called this place home.



Come and experience a unique mountain getaway in one of the Blue Mountains’ most vibrant and historic towns.



The Space



Highland Cottage is ideal for families and friends looking to enjoy the authentic Blue Mountains lifestyle with all the comforts of modern living.



We’re just a short 700-metre stroll to Leura Mall and the train station, yet surrounded by peaceful greenery — with maple trees, lemon trees, and even strawberries growing around the property.



Step through the bright and spacious sunroom, perfect for your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine while watching the sunrise or sunset.

All three bedrooms are elegantly styled and furnished with luxurious linen, down duvets, French flax pillowcases, and electric blankets for year-round comfort.

The spacious kitchen and dining area forms the heart of the home, featuring another fireplace with a classic cooktop where you can still boil water. The dining table seats up to six guests, creating a warm and communal atmosphere for shared meals after a day exploring the mountains.



Throughout the home, you’ll find original artworks by Melbourne-based artist Cate Maddie, known for her modern take on natural still-life scenes.



Pet-Friendly Stay



Your furry friends are welcome at Highland Cottage!

Our fully fenced backyard with lush gardens makes it a safe and enjoyable space for pets to explore.



Please bring your own pet bedding and bowls, and kindly keep pets off the furniture and beds.

A $50 pet fee per pet per stay applies (maximum of 2 pets).



Seasons in Leura



Autumn: The garden glows with golden maple leaves — a photographer’s dream.



Winter: A favourite season in the mountains — enjoy the indoor fireplaces with firewood provided (June–August). Additional firewood can be purchased from nearby petrol stations.



Year-round comfort: Gas heating warms the lounge and kitchen quickly, while split-system air conditioning in both main bedrooms keeps you cool in summer and cosy in winter.

Relaxing getaway

The cottage was beautiful. Our dog loved the property also and spent time wandering around the garden outback which is something he doesn’t have at home. Very close to the mall which has a lot of dog friendly options.

Gorgeous property within walking distance to Leura precinct

Whilst the blue mountains is often a cold place to stay, gas heating and a fireplace is provided with split aircons in the bedrooms make it a very comfortable house. The most special part of our stay was, being a pet friendly residence, that we could take our dog with us making it a perfect family getaway.

Beautifully decorated cottage in the mountains

We loved staying in this beautifully decorated cottage. We enjoyed using the living spaces and even though it was January it was cool enough one evening to light a fire in the lounge room! It is close to Leura shops and other nearby attractions. It is worth noting that the second bathroom is in an adjoining building. This was unexpected and meant that we all mostly shared the main bathroom that has a lovely leadlight window between the bathroom and hallway.
