My wife and I loved our stay and would definitely go back. From watching hummingbirds and listening to howler monkeys in the trees, trios to the beach nearby, to dining in the little town, it will hold a special place in our trip memories. We saw one of the howler monkeys walking up the driveway, as well as several Coatis around the house. The area is also very dark at night and well suited to Astrophotography if the weather is right.
We recommend visiting El Barco for the seared tuna, the Patacones, and the view! Carsten and Nadia were so friendly and we felt like family after our two visits. We also loved Cafe Sante for breakfast.
Charlie and Minor went above and beyond to resolve some issues that occurred during our visit, which were out of their control. Both were very responsive and a pleasure to work with.
My one recommendation would be to plan to arrive well before sunset as the area is remote and the roads getting to the house are far easier in daylight. 4x4 is suggested for a few shallow creek crossings getting to the coast. We also saw horses, cows, iguanas, Coatis and more on the gravel roads nearby. You will enjoy the remoteness of the location far more than the touristy feel of other places we visited during our trip, and the experience was amazing.
