Laurel Highlands Private Estate with Barn & 80 Acres of scenic mountain trails.
This large historic home has been fully renovated for luxurious short-term stays. This 7 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home is suited to sleep up to 18 people. An open, chef's kitchen (including 3 ovens and a 6 burner gas stove) make's cooking large holiday or family meals a true pleasure. The kitchen is open to a dining room with seating for all. There is a den with television and games, ideal for children. Additionally, there is a beautiful grand family room with chapel-like vaulted ceilings and wood-burning fireplace. The scenic value of this home is unbelievable. The home sits on 80 acres of walkable trails and overlooks its own picture book of mountain springs, creeks, and a historic barn that dates back to the early 1800's.
It is a wonderful house, just right for our family gathering. We had 8 adults and 9 children, and there was lots of room inside and out. They loved the pool, and there are spacious porches and patios for sitting and a campfire. Facilities were very good, except there werenât very many spoons. We ended up buying some plastic ones. No complaints, though. We thoroughly enjoyed our week.
Second time at this house , plenty of room for 15.needs some upgrading. Dinning room chairs need cushions, the wood chairs were hard for game board nights, bbq needs to be bigger( party of15 grilling) oven not hot, but had another oven in laundry room. Pool nice n fire pit was great!
Good Location, Nice Property, But Lacking in Hospitality
The home was clean, well laid out, and located in a convenient area. The rooms were tidy and generally comfortable, which we appreciated. However, several issues impacted our experience. The host was notably inflexible with check-in and check-out times. We requested a modest late check-out to allow time for clean-up, but this was denied. Despite this, we were later charged an unexpected 50 fee for not placing linens in the laundry room, something we could have easily addressed with a little extra time. The fee felt arbitrary and excessive, especially without prior notice. At check-in, we found a dead mouse near the pool. The owner, who lives next door and was actively preparing the house at the time, somehow missed this, though it was immediately obvious to us.A larger concern was the lack of privacy. The day after our arrival, the host entered the house unannounced, stating he needed to clean the pool. Rather than requesting access, he walked in, dropped in the automatic pool cleaner, lingered for a few minutes, and left. This felt intrusive, especially for a space expected to offer a degree of seclusion.Additionally, the Jacuzzi had an overwhelming amount of chlorine. It caused eye irritation and actually discolored some of our swimsuits, which was unexpected. While the property itself is well-maintained and nicely located, these issues with inflexible policies, privacy, and the jacuzzi setup detracted from what could have been a much more enjoyable stay.
The interior appears to be newly remodeled and very comfortable. The towels and linens were very nice, not the typical paper-thin materials you sometimes find. Amenities such as paper towels, toilet paper, bathroom sprays etc., made it very easy to move in and begin to enjoy the house quickly. The pool and hot tub outside were very nice as well. Great stay for us.
Perfect spot for our summer family reunion ... half from the East coast, the rest from Ohio. We enjoyed swimming (yes, the pool water was cold but super refreshing on hot days), fire pit, spacious kitchen for cooking, breezeway with extra ovens and refrigerator. The big living room was fun for family games and just hanging out. Gorgeous views, loved the sound of the stream nearby. "Trail" goes up to a meadow, but looked like it had not been mowed, so will say with other reviewers that the trail access was not obvious. Comfortable beds, plenty of bathroom space for our group. Bonus for us was the king suite on main level, so our Gran did not have to climb the stairs.
Immaculate home! Close to attractions nearby, and plenty of hiking! Be sure to bring your mosquito and tick spray because both were plentiful! The property was gorgeous with enough room for the whole family! The hot tub was a winner, but the pool was not heated and super chilly. We were there at the beginning of June, so there probably wasnât time for it to warm up. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend!
This was a large piece of property to run around and play. And plenty of room in the house for everyone to spread out. The kitchen was spacious and accommodated our large family.
We had 10 Adults, 2 15-20 yr olds, and 5 infants to 3 yrs old. This was a perfect location. We were able to be together and separate as needed. . No one was ever overwhelmed by the noise, because of the multiple rooms and number of places outside to gather. Can not recommend enough, for a large family gathering. The host is very responsive, and great.
We had a great time for our long weekend. Plenty of space to relax for the nine of us. The house was very clean. Foodies may want to contact the host prior for details about kitchen supplies. The grounds had lots of acreage to explore.
This place has everything for a terrific stay. A lot of room to spread out and nice renovations on an older home. We enjoyed exploring the 80 acre property with our dogs. The neighborhood is very quiet. A few in our group enjoyed the hot tub. Wifi is fast and TVshave cable Seven springs is about 30 minutes away.
My family of 4, plus my parents and brother spent a weekend at the house and really enjoyed ourselves. The property is enormous and the kids enjoyed playing hide and seek in the many rooms. The kitchen is expansive and there's plenty of room for lots of cooks to all be doing their own projects. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire ring at night. The parking is a little tricky if you have more than a couple vehicles. There's a gravel loop to turn your car around but it's a little steep. If you only have 2 cars, it wouldn't be an issue at all. We had additional family arrive for dinner and getting everyone in and out required a little shuffling around, but ultimately that's a small issue. We would happily return again, maybe this summer when the pool is open!
Family wedding at nearby Green Gables, this was the perfect homebase for a dozen or so of family and bridal party prep. Pool and hot tub, firepits, grill, etc were in good order and we took full advantage between events. Fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms are large and convenient, common living room areas are huge and offer tons of seating and relaxing space. Bedrooms are plentiful and spacious. The access drive from the main state routes is rural, well kept and accessible for typical vehicles and the property offers lots of farmland walks and views including creekside and bridges over a small creek. Highly recommend for similar sized group stays!
We had 9 kids and 6 adults and truly had the best time! The house has lots of space to spread out and we all enjoyed swimming, hiking on the trails, and playing wiffle ball in the large field. And Ligonier is a short drive and a super cute town with a fantastic creamery!
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. The house is very spacious and the surrounding serene property was lovely and so much fun to explore. The house is well stocked. The owners are nice enough to provide linens, towels, nice grill, pool toys, kitchen items, etc. We especially loved the extra fridge and two extra ovens in the breezeway area. It makes hosting large groups so easy. The kids had a blast in the pool. It was fun to gather around the fire pit at night while the kids hung out in the hot tub or relax on the front porch in the rocking chairs in the morning. The owners were so attentive to our needs. We couldn't ask for anything more. We will be back next year!
