Nestled into the hillside overlooking stunning bushland and offering filtered ocean views, this 3 bedroom, 2 living area traditional beach home has everything you need to relax, unwind and while away your holidays. A superb location, only minutes walk from the centre of Lorne allows for you to come and go as you please. Waverley Retreat easily accommodates one large or two small families with living quarters both upstairs and downstairs, along with multiple spacious out decking areas. The rear deck area opens onto spacious bushland giving the property a real sense of tranquility and serenity. Other features include separate external laundry/storage room, bar fridge in second living area and multiple off street parking.

Just a few general words about the property.

It is important to understand this property is a holiday rental, not a shared space or principle place of residence, which ensures you privacy and quiet enjoyment. It is also professionally managed, giving you peace of mind of 24/7 support by a local, just around the corner.

Pricing is based around seasons, length of stay and number of guests. It is important all bookings reflect the exact number of guests. If this changes, you must contact us. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the published rates across all booking platforms, however Great Ocean Road Real Estate Holidays reserves the right to correct pricing errors.

Unless otherwise previously agreed, all stays must only be used for private residential usage and to accommodate the number of guests stated on your booking. Unless ‘Pets Welcome’ is advertised, the property is strictly no pets.

All holiday accommodation bookings are accepted on the basis that all occupants will treat the property with the same respect as their own home in accordance with the “House Rules”. Noise audible outside the property is prohibited between 10pm and 8am.

Love this place!

We had such a wonderful time @ Waverley Retreat. It is incredibly well catered for, even for our two pooches, who were quite content in the enormous decked entertaining space. There are so many things to love about this place; it is spacious, plenty of room for everyone (and guests); upstairs and downstairs separate living rooms were perfect. The kitchen was excellent and incredibly well stocked with bits n pieces. A fabulous Webber BBQ and the best part, was the huge outdoor decked space. Really lovely to have a BBQ, relax and enjoy the sounds of the birds and the distant sound of the crashing waves and chill out with our mates. The views are partial, but that didn't matter, because everything else was beautiful. The location is brilliant, just down the bottom of the road and you are at the foodworks supermarket, then straight into Loren central. There are some comments on here about the road being steep - yes it is - but it is a fairly typical hillside street in beautiful Lorne, certainly nothing to worry about. We will be back!! Also want to make mention of Great Ocean Road Holiday Rentals people - they are first class and offer a level of service that is second to none. We were even offered a late 2pm checkout, which was a deight. LoveLorne

Good size property for family

This property was well sized for a family of five. With a large wrap around balcony and modern kitchen. Property needs some maintenance though - carpets had stains, the property smelt of dust and some fixtures were broken.

Great location

the view was great and we thought the kitchen was amazing. Best kitchen we have ever stayed in on a holiday. Kids LOVED the swing and the deck was great (shame we went on a cold, rainy weekend and had to stay inside). Kids want to go back so we will probably book this house again in the future. Thank you!

All the essentials

Well provisioned with everything you need for a home away from home. Handy location to shops and beach. As other reviewers have said, be mindful of the steep hill. You need to be fit if you intend to walk it. Large enclosed wooden deck for dogs, but they will need supervision on the unfenced grassy slope at the back.

Short family trip with doggos

Good neat little place - even if the super steep hill was tricky with the dogs at times. The properly isn’t new and modern but fully equipped and cozy. Great large rear private deck and front area is an added bonus as it’s all fully fenced so perfect for the dogs to run around on. Wi Finwould be good but not crucial - with the only AC unit up STI imagine the downstairs bedroom and lounge area might get pretty warm in the summer. All in all though great place and great value for money. We’ll be back for sure

AMAZING VIEW, quiet getaway!

This location and setting was perfect for escaping the city and looking out over Lornes main beach. The house could sleep lots of people but I think would quickly become crowded if every bed was taken. Great for spotting wild life and getting away from the noise. We enjoyed walking up the super steep hill after our evening meal to work off our dinner. Warning that hill is not for the faint hearted. This dog says dog friendly but there is only a fenced decking area and no fenced grassy area. Overall 4/5

Clean and peaceful

we enjoyed our stay here as a small family group. We used all the different living zones upstairs, downstairs and outside on the spacious deck. The house was comfortable and suited our needs well.

Great family holiday home

We recently spent three nights at Waverley and couldn’t have asked for a better home. Neat and tidy with plenty of cutlery and crockery, towels and extra blankets. The tree swing was a big hit with the kids (and adults) and we loved that we could bring our dog with us. The one thing is really needed at the house is some sort of child safety gate at the top of the stairs. The staircase is quite steep and very close to bathroom/bedrooms, so you definitely need to be vigilant with small children. Overall we had a fantastic time and will definitely stay again in the future.

Great space for a family group to stay! The outdoor deck is brilliant as is the well appointed kitchen. We really enjoyed the well appointed property and were very appreciative of the timely communication in the lead up and throughout our stay. The kitchen facilities, downstairs retreat and outdoor decking were sensational spaces. We loved the little treats we received on arrival. That was super thoughtful. We also wanted to acknowledge the special arrangements made to compensate for the issues that arose at the premises prior to our arrival. We were very appreciative of this gesture. Perfect for family in lorne

We are regulars to Lorne and have stayed pretty much everywhere over the past 20 years. This house was clean, well stocked kitchen, set amongst the trees and had two living areas so was great for kids. The DVD selection for the kids was helpful too. The only downside was the huge hill. Was great for exercise but a bit hard lugging beach stuff up and down. Apart from that (which is truly not even that bad just takes more effort) was great house and great stay!

Great house - Ideal family holiday

We wanted something walking distance to the beach, with a view but not in the middle of town, somewhere with different living zones for kids and adults, and pet friendly without being covered in pet hair and Waverley retreat looked great from the outside and turned out to be ideal in every way. It was spotless and we did our best to leave it that way when we left. Our dog could wander in and out of the house without being able to get away (she likes to explore). The kids and their friends (all teens) could walk to the beach near the swingbridge in a few minutes any time they liked - and did so all the time. They had their rooms and bathroom upstairs, we had our bedroom and own bathroom downstairs. If we wanted we could have used the 2 different living zones but we all get on well and generally shared. There are plenty of spots for a few cars, there were two different areas on the verandah so we could enjoy sunrise and sunset in comfort and still see the beach to determine if there were waves. The kitchen had everything we wanted, the Miele dishwasher was SO helpful, and having a washing machine and dryer meant we could do everything we needed inhouse. Back to the kitchen - PLENTY of cutlery and crockery, plenty of storage space and a great Weber BBQ out the back. If you want ritzy, high gloss accommodation, look elsewhere. If you want warmth, comfort and a home feel, Waverley retreat is it. We have been going to Lorne for Summer for many years and the wonderful folks at GORH Lorne really are friendly and helpful. They helped us find Waverley Retreat which we heartily recommend to any group, family or not, looking for a great holiday experience. Our thanks to the owners for leaving the house spotless for when we arrived and thoughtfully decked out in the kitchen.

We did enjoy our stay at Waverly retreat. The House was comfortable and clean and as the description on Stayz says, it is a relatively short walk to the shops/beach etc BUT be warned, if you have small kids (under 5) and grandparents staying with you as we did, the property is situated about 300m up one of the steepest roads have ever encounted. This should really be mentioned in the property description as we had to take the car out every time we wanted to leave the house, which wasn't ideal and did detract from our stay/experience a bit. Other than that though, everything else was fine
