Scandinavian look log cabin with fantastic views over the mountains

Affordable chalet with magnificent views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Peaceful setting with wonderful private balcony. The chalet is cosy for two, and has room for up to eight if people sleep on the mezzanine floor. The lodge is fully equipped and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

EV charging permitted via dedicated source @ $20/day to be booked in at office or at time of booking.

Mt Lyford is a magnificent place to visit all year round. The winter has wonderful snow skiing with the skifield only 8 kms up the road. In summer do the biking and hiking or swim in our mountain tarn! This chalet is situated at the top end of Mt Lyford village close to the start of the ski field road and the shuttle stop.It sits above the eastern side of the village and looks directly out over the Whalesback and Seaward Kaikoura Ranges.
Sandy Heights is great for 1 or 2 small families and has 2 bedrooms and a mezzanine. Both bedrooms have a queen bed each,and there are 2 singles and 2 trundlers on the mezzanine floor.

There is a cosy log fire in the lounge which easily warms the house on cold days. The lounge is open to the ceiling and gives the house a nice airy feel. The mezzanine has the perfect spot for a kids play zone, so the adults can have a quiet space in the lounge.

A fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer,stovetop,microwave makes your stay a breeze. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and basin. The upstairs bedroom has an ensuite with toilet and basin.A washing machine is supplied in the laundry.

Your group will have exclusive use of the lodge during your stay.
Note that bedlinens/towels are not standard included but can be arranged on request. No wifi or cell phone coverage.

Family winter break

We brought our 2 teenagers (13 & 17) to Sandy Heights and had such a lively time. No wifi was a big draw card and the kids were engaged with us and explored and played games rather than staring at screens. The cabin was cosy and warm and had everything we needed. South Island Robins and Tomtits visiting each day was such a gift. :)Thank you again xx

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay surrounded by blooming manuka and blissful quiet. The cabin was ideal. Two cautions: nearby hikes are on private property and incur hefty fees for each visit, and extra fees for linen are charged per person and seemed on the high side.

Fantastic place

We had the most amazing relaxing weekend. Got incredibly lucky with the first big snowfall for the season too. Only thing missing was a hot tub 😅 Warm, comfortable accommodations, well laid out. Great location for exploring the area.

Mount Lyford 3 day Stay

The accommodation was pleasant. We loved the log cabin and the vintage LPs. The views are gorgeous too. The Irina Track was a real nice walk. It would have been useful to be clear as to what we can and can't do around the complex. The agency was flexible with our arrival and departure given the delay we experienced due to our cancelled ferry. We enjoyed a trip to Hanmer Springs 1 hour away from Mt Lyford. Overall we had 3 pleasant and quiet days.

perfect getaway

amazing log cabin, authentic but also very modern. a group of us stayed and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time and will definitely be back sometime but for a longer stay :) the views were amazing and the stars were even better

We sadly didn't get to visit Mt Lyford due to the Covid 19 level 4 restrictions. We were so disappointed that we had to cancel but Claudine was very understanding. Communication with Claudine was very easy and quick. We can't wait to visit soon

Lovely stay, wonderful view.

Loved the property. It's worth noting there is no fire guard. The booking process was very tricky through book a bach as I had to download an app to find the property address and it was difficult to communicate with property owner. Cheaper towns probably easier to book through Mt Lyford holiday homes- which would circumvent above issues.

Great holiday - But the room downstairs is cold as no heater and when you close the door the heat from fire doesn't enter the room. So very hot bedrooms upstairs and cold bedroom downstairs. Otherwise really lovely place to stay and enjoy the area
