Such a lovely hotel

We had a lovely experience at La Phenix Hotel. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was spectacular with a view of the Rhone and a fireplace. It was in a fabulous location in the old part of the city. I would definitely stay here again next visit to Lyon.

You never know what to expect when you book a European hotel. I was pleased to find a very nice river front property. Clean, well maintained, excellent staff, good European breakfast, large room, great quiet location in Vieux Lyon across the river from Bellecour. Easy walk to many restaurants and cafes. Don’t be swayed by photos of the simple exterior. It is much nicer on the inside.

We were told the air conditioning for the entire hotel wasn’t working. Also the jacuzzi tub didn’t work. The breakfast area was great and so were the staff.

A wonderful hotel - clean, quirky and well located to walk to the major sites and old town parts of Lyon. When booking I was concerned that the hotel may be noisy due to its location however it was whisper quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again

Good stay for the price. Public spaces are newly renovated, bright & charming. My single was a bit pokey & had no view, but was clean & functional. Staff is kind & hotel felt safe as a woman traveling alone. The free still & sparking water was a nice touch. The hotel could elevate itself just by replacing carpeting.

I want to say nice things

I want to be nice about Le Phenix. The people there are very nice indeed. The pictured room (they use a lot) is a sun room on the first floor. It could do with some refreshments for guests and its a bit cold. There was no restaurant facilities for dinner but there are loads of local restaurants a very short walk away - we had an excellent Indian meal. The breakfast was not good - a huge 'issue' for me is a terrible Franke coffee maker - just have a nice flask of filter coffee would be much better. Some scrambled eggs and small sausage - had to wait for the next round of scrambled eggs. It has a nice relax area in the foyer. It is immaculately clean and the rooms are nice. Again, the people are very nice and obliging. Good location.

Excellent hotel, with a stunning ground floor entrance/reception. Rooms and hallway a little tired, but it didn’t detract from the stay. If you get a family bedroom make sure you got a proper shower - ours was one over a bath without a shower curtain so it wasn’t the easiest to shower in without water going everywhere. Would definitely stay again if we found ourselves in Lyon.
