We had a terrible ordeal. We did not receive the check-in information untill the morning of our arrival - but was sent only after speaking to Sykes cottages, the intermediary. We had called the property owner few times & as there was no answer, left a message about our expected time of arrival.
On arrival, we could not find anybody around. Called both the mobile and the landline number, but there was no reply again. After sometime the property owner appeared and initially denied we had a booking. On showing the confirmatory email, he then blamed us that we had already cancelled the booking, which was incorrect . He then showed us the property, which was in a terrible state. There was ongoing building work and workmen's tools were left in the back garden. He offered to get the place tidied up in 1-2 hours, but told us that it will not be of the standard expected in a holiday cottage. We were left stranded in the wet car park, on a Sunday evening, to arrange an alternative (or come back home cancelling the holiday) & contacted Syke's Cottages emergency line. Christine had a daunting task of arranging an accommodation instantly. She tried to contact the property owner, but could not get a response through landline, mobile, text or email. She sent us two options, to our dismay one of them was again Brandeers Long Barn!!! Nevertheless, she finally managed to arrange another cottage, though not the ideal choice.
I would definitely not recommend this property ever to anybody.
