There's a restaurant on site. You can unwind with a drink at one of the 2 bars/lounges. Public spaces have free WiFi. The Historic Park Inn Hotel also features coffee/tea in a common area and an elevator. Self parking is free.
The bartender was not very friendly and seemed annoyed people showed up at 9:30. The bar closed at 10:00 and two drinks (vodka/water & jack/coke) cost 28.00.
The door to our room was very hard to open and close (assume swollen from humidity). Had to put whole body into it.
This hotel and the whole town of Mason City was a happy surprise. The property has been beautifully, painstakingly maintained/restored with nearly every detail impeccably Frank Lloyd Wright. (that also means there are fewer outlets, etc. than you'd expect in a modern build.) Bed was comfy, staff was very accommodating, good dining options within walking distance, nice balcony overlooking the park, so bring a bottle of wine. Kudos to the folks who made this such a great and authentic-feeling experience. My only suggestion; they needed to wash the windows. (FLW would have wanted maximum light coming into the rooms.)
We loved the thoughtful restoration of this unique historic property. Every little detail was attuned to the Arts & Crafts period and reflected Frank Lloyd Wrightâs aesthetic. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. We were charmed by the hotel, the central city park across the street, and the many options for entertainment and learning in Mason City. We plan to return. Itâs a delightful spot for a weekend getaway.
Our only complaints were that there were no towel bars in the bathroom and no breakfast is available in the hotel or in close walking distance. The hotel is an architectural gem, and that is the reason to stay there.
It was unique but there are things that need to be upgraded and/or fixed. I felt like the floor in my room was going to give in some spots. The restaurant and downstairs nar was nice. Getting the carpet in the hotel professionally cleaned wouldnt hurt. The place was ok. It was not worth the price they charged.
Such a fantastic property!!
It's Frank Lloyd Wright's last remaining hotel. Magnificent! A must for fans of the GOAT.
The hotel is lovely. Just perfect.
We got a queen suite. At the time I booked there were no king beds available. It's period appropriate, so maybe there aren't any here. We had a nice suite. 2 rooms and a bathroom. Great shower. Lovely room.
The common areas are incredible. Just oozing with charm and character. If you're a FLW fan, this is Mecca. So much Prairie Style architecture in this town. So lovely.
The staff is fantastic here. Kay in the Draftsman in the basement is so cool and fun. Carole at the front desk was incredible! Come to Mason City and do it right!!
The only thing I would change the toilet paper. This place is amazing and would've been 5 stars if the toilet paper wasn't what I used to wipe my butt with in the eighties at motel six. Come on you have a upscale Hotel and that kind of toilet paper. Also Free water.
The lobby area and public areas of the hotel have been beautifully restored in this historic Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. Difficult to find a meal on Sunday since the hotel restaurant was closed on Sunday as were most places nearby. Fortunately the Thai Bistro was open 2 blocks away and was excellent. The room was generally comfortable but needs to have some simple amenities to make it more practical. There was no luggage rack making it difficult to retrieve items from luggage. I asked at the front desk and was told there were no luggage racks. Hotel should definitely place a luggage rack in each room. There was no counter space in the bathroom for placing personal items, a small shelf would be very helpful. Small inconveniences are sometimes necessary when staying in a lovely historic hotel.
There was a wad of hair in the corner of the shower!
There was not much (not enough!) water pressure in shower, or to flush the toilet.
There are not modern â
