It appears the owners don’t want to spend a dime on upkeep or for adequate maintenance or cleaning staff. What was once an interesting and unique property is now essentially a historic dump

Needs major remodeling.
Ripped curtains, old mattress and boxspring,
For $250 Garden View King room I was dissapointed in the "garden view" of #310 it was a few small semi alive flowering plants with view of the street over walkway to upstairs rooms one with a large pup that moved around ALOT above me with its people.
I hope The Marriott will bring the magnificent Historical Hotel back to its top service with restaurant and Bar.
Bathroom fan did not work and a bedspread would have been nice.
A 'garden view' was advertised, but it was a view of parking lot and dumpsters, and the room was not at the historic hotel. The room was dingy and run down
There was no upfront explanation of the pet fee even though booked the room with the traveling with pet filter set. The fee was another $50. The room was not maintained very well for a $250 per night room.

We stayed in two rooms. The first room had a water leak from the ceiling, so we were moved another room.
The property is older and needs some attention in some areas. But overall, we still enjoyed our stay.

I liked the western era charm. The central location in the town of Mendocino, the quiet atmosphere, the parking and the views(25 A) made our stay enjoyable.
I did not like that the restaurant was not in operation, that cold water faucet in the shower did function properly, the deck had creaky flooring and the entire outside building required maintenance. Such a shame the exterior is allowed to deteriorate.
Pros: Spectacular location and view from the front porch. Cool old building.
Cons: Terrible condition, creaky windows and shower door, no (NONE) room cleaning over three nights, skunk infestation under the building. It feels like nobody cares.
At Motel 6 rates I’d be fine. At the price we paid ($223/night plus tax) it’s a complete ripoff regardless of location and holiday weekend.
I don’t mind paying $500 a night for vintage but not for dilapidated. The hotel is in bad shape. I hear it’s being renovated starting October but it should be closed until then. Paid for an ocean view and shared deck. Maybe if the windows were washed and the bird crap cleanup on the deck it would have helped. The roof shingles are falling off and will eventually hit someone in the head. It was warm and we could not get the windows to stay up. There was something sharp on the mattress frame and my husband cut his foot on it. This place is in bad shape. Wait until it’s renovated before you stay here.
