Great boutique hotel with plenty of amenity.

We are on our way to Yosemite and looked for hotels in Merced. This one way exceeded expectations. It is a beautiful hotel with great in-room amenities and style. It is perfectly suited to a couple on the move. The hotel has great restaurant choices on the ground floor, but we found dining and dessert options less than a block away (I have some mobility issues and the wall was easy). Security is great and when my fiance went outside early in the morning, the basket came out and just kept an eye on her. The front desk was very polite and accommodating.

Charming hotel en route to Yosemite

Well designed with artistic touches. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the public spaces were charming. We also had a great breakfast at Rainbird before heading to Yosemite. Would definitely come back!

You won’t be disappointed!

Always a great stay-cation. We live about 4 blocks from this place and it’s a wonderful escape from our busy life. Clean, quiet, relaxing, near awesome restaurants and our favorite tap room (Tioga), we’ve never had a bad experience here. We’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and just much needed breaks from reality. Love this place!

The El Capitan is the best hotel in Merced. It's downtown with easy walking to shops and restaurants. There's a parking garage with self-parking and valet options. We stayed in a suite, which had a separate room for our son. The bathroom is huge with a clawfoot tub. The bottle fillers provide still and carbonated water. There's a well-equipped gym. The patio bar had good beer and whisky and was not crowded. We didn't eat at Rainbird this visit, but we have in the past and it is excellent. We enjoyed going to SUPR MRKT (a monthly swap-meet). We also enjoyed the downtown cafes that are within easy walking distance (we went to The Sensory Lab and Coffee Bandits).
