The house is RIGHT ON THE BEACH! The water is usually calm, and just 20 meters (60 feet) from the shore, youâll find a sandbar. Additionally, there are small reef areas with fish and coral to explore. We have snorkeling gear available for your use.
Our accommodation is located in a picturesque fishing port, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and tourist zones. To reach the nearest restaurants or shops, you will need a car or can take a tuk-tuk (motorized rickshaw). Life in the port is relaxed and peaceful, allowing you to fully connect with nature and enjoy rest, offering a completely different experience from mass tourism destinations like CancĂșn or the Riviera Maya.
While there are local shops and small restaurants with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, if youâre looking for something more special, just 20 minutes from the house is Puerto Progreso, where youâll find various attractions such as its international pier, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
During the winter season (from November to February), there may be some storms that, depending on their intensity, could bring seaweed and debris to our beaches. This situation is beyond our control, but we are committed to keeping the beach clean upon your arrival and throughout your stay. Seaweed is typically carried away by the next tide, so it shouldnât be an issue during your visit.
We enjoyed a quiet stay. It is a big house with a small but deep, nice and refreshing pool in a sleepy village. The beach is out your patio door and the upstairs deck is large and has lots of seating and sunning options. It is drivable to cool ruins and awesome cenotes.
This could actually be a lovely home, but at the price point we expected a much nicer rental. We only stayed 2 days out of 14. 5 of those days were because the weather was not good so we left the beach, but we elected not to return for other reasons. The major issues include poor mattresses, pillows, linens and lighting. The sliding doors and screens barely functioned, the burners on the stove didn't all work, and the espresso maker wasn't fully functional. The kitchen tools were basic. There were not enough lamps and the bulbs that were there were those awful "daylight" bulbs. Really horrible lighting. Regarding the surroundings, this must have been off-season, because there was no one around, which was eerie. Many of the homes in the neighborhood appear abandoned or completely shut down for the season, which wasn't a good vibe for a vacation. The beach isn't actually private, which is important to know. There is only a dining table outside downstairs. There are also no decent restaurants unless you drive at least 20 minutes. We were hoping for some charming cafe's etc, but the vibe is more dive-bar. I take responsibility for not better understanding the location and neighborhood, but after having rented beach locations at many locations in Mexico, this was just nothing compared to my prior experiences, and yet the price point was comparable. The property manager was prompt and communicative, but we just couldn't waste our vacation in this uncomfortable space.
We had a lovely time and the house is perfect for a quiet beachfront stay. All the amenities we needed and great hosts. Easy to communicate with them to get extra water and to check in/check out. We even hired a local chef to cook dinner two nights that they recommended. We'd love to go again!
Where do I start?! WOW!!! We searched VRBO for weeks all thru the Caribbean looking for something directly on the beach and at the same time remote. Almost giving up on finding what we wanted and settling, we switched our search to the Yucatan and this beautiful home right on the beach in a remote fishing village popped up. After viewing the photos, it was an immediate decision. It was way beyond what we hoped to find! Originally we were planning on renting a car to see some of the nearby attractions, like the Mayan ruins, cenotes, etc. We got a ride from Merida to the house and while I was unloading our bags my wife went inside the house and I could hear her screaming with excitement. This home is so amazing that we decided not to get a car and spend most of our time enjoying this beautiful place and relaxing on the beach. (Thank you Jennifer!) When we arrived in Merida, Veronica and Lisandro stayed in communication with us to help make our way to the house smoothly. When we got to the house we were greeted by Jorge who gave us a tour and helpful tips on where to eat and who to get rides from as needed. He became our lifeline while we were there gladly helping with anything we needed very quickly. We loved this place and the wonderful management team support. What an experience for our 25th anniversary! We will definitely come again!
We truly enjoyed the 10 days we stayed. Communication was great and the check in and out processes went smooth. Lovely home in a nice fishing village. We truly enjoyed visiting the cenotes and learning about the nearby ruins. We also had fun fishing with a local guide. We felt safe the whole time we were here. If you're thinking of visiting this part of the Yucatan, you should give this home serious consideration.
This property was exactly as advertised. It was beautiful, relaxing and safe. The house is much larger than it appears in the photos and has absolutely everything you need to make yourself at home. The property manager was responsive and helpful the entire time we were there. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We rented the house for our sons birthday, we had a great time, beach is steps away and swimming pool is in the back which you can enjoy in the privacy. We had our 1.5 daughter with us, the place is very kid friendly. Overall the service was great, we interacted with some of the staff, everyone very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Had a great time with the entire family. The place was exactly what a beach house should be. Unpretentious but has all the comforts we expected. Charming place, would come back!
I rented for a month with my 8 year old son, and had various friends and family come and stay throughout. We all agreed the property was just lovely. Very safe and quiet area. We enjoyed the pool and the ocean - I was able to work on my laptop while I watched my son snorkel in the ocean... what could be better?! There were a ton of fish to be seen. The property management was super responsive and provided us everything we needed. Would highly recommend, and we hope to be back ourselves.
