Second time renting this charming apartment suite with private entrance, full size kitchen, living room and absolutely adorable backyard complete with pool. Love the neighborhood, easy walk to center, shops, food, etc. The view of the church is stunning and the neighborhood is has opened a few new shops in just the last few years. You canât beat the price for all that you get with this apartment!
We were visiting family in Merida and this rental was close to them, so it was very convenient. We were two doors down from a good little place for quick dinners, and a very good cafe for morning coffee and breakfast. This rental did also have a kitchen but we werenât staying long enough to stock groceries etc. The apartment was nice, very clean, and the AC and fans kept it cool. Good bathroom, nice shower and yes a toilet that could flush TP. We appreciated the big water cooler in the kitchen, we used that to fill our bottles every day, and to brush our teeth. We had been curious about the little pool in the back but we ended up not wanting to use it after all. There was a skimmer provided that weâd have used if we wanted to dip in.From the kitchen you can hear the street noise fairly loudly, but in the bedroom it was quiet, especially with the bedroom door closed. The neighborhood is definitely not touristy, but we felt safe. We Ubered to the touristy area a couple times, and it may have been walking distance in general, but we had younger and older folks in our group. The touristy area, with squares and shops and restaurants, was nice.Highlights of our trip - visiting the Uxmal ruins and then also an interesting little chocolate park near the ruins. And hands down, the best food of our trip was at Alma Calida, a little family restaurant a few blocks from the rental, not in the touristy area.
for those of us that look at the pictures, read the host's descriptions, and go straight to the reviews during our search... here are the features that may be overlooked in the list of amenities but are well appreciated and sets this property apart from others... look for the white unlabeled binder as the guest handbook, has ceiling and floor fan, washing machine in a storage space out back, private dipping pool, white noise maker (although not much noise was heard especially through the floor to ceiling doors separating the bedroom which kept the AC isolated to the bedroom, screens on window and patio door, extractor fan in bathroom that way it didnt get so humid and muggy, accurate pictures, darkening curtains on patio for those wanting to sleep in, nice private patio ambience, smart tv, 1 complimentary purified water dispenser, directly in front is a plaza with natural homemade icecream shop, convenience store, bakery, take out or eat in spot 3 doors to the right (opens evenings), a cart selling marquesitas and churros in the evening, and Va-y-ven bus stop (12 pesos per person card purchased and reloded in Oxxos) right in front of apartment on the other side of the street that will take you to Parque San Juan and on our side of the street goes to other restaurants and grocery stores. If you're looking to be out turisteando during the day, this property is worth it based on location (not too busy and access to businesses)
Property was clean and attractive, did not use stove as have never used a gas stove before, instructions would be helpful in the booklet made by the host in the property.
Needed earplugs to sleep as neighbours dogs barked a lot throughout the night and traffic is busy. Other wise a lovely stay. thank you
This was our favorite neighborhood in Merida, and we were grateful to stay in this historic home. Renovations permit flushing TP, and the dipping pool was nice after hot days. Very private patio. Homemade tamales a few doors down if you turn left from the doorway, as well as homemade lunch tacos that same direction at a place other side of park. Neighborhood baker is diagonally across park from your door. A new takeaway restaurant a few doors to the right, Marquesitas, fries and other delights in the park at night. Bring shower shoes anywhere you stay in MX for the slippery tiles & patios. There is lots of traffic in Merida, so you will hear vehicles, but they provided a white noise machine on bedside table & patio was quiet, so we rested well on the comfy beds.
One little silly thing. The toaster will not lock down to toast. It has to be held down manually. Easy fix. Otherwise superb. Thank you so much for an enjoyable eperience.
