I would say this Bridge Inn is more like B&B style or maybe we stayed there off-season. The restaurant on site was closed and looked nobody there. The staff sent us a room code for entering our room. After we settled down in the room, everything felt like a home. Even in the very cold day, the room temperature was cover every corner. The owner of this property was thoughtful even providing 3M earbuds for us because the train were passing. Overall it's a nice stay.
Really cute, clean and quaint experience. They offered ear plugs for the near by train but they were not needed. Has everything you need for a pleasant stay.
Check in process was simple - everything prearranged with personal numeric code for access to the room. The suite was clean, well appointed, and beds were comfortable. Two single beds in our room - donât know if all the suites are like that. The hotel is in two buildings, obviously converted - sit near an old bridge near the shore (hence the name). The windows were OK but not much of a view (but not a deal breaker). New Buffalo is a short 10 min drive away (we were visiting family there and thatâs why we stayed). I would definitely stay here again.
I did not actually stay here, but my customer service experience with them is my reason for this review. I had booked a stay for one night in this charming looking tiny inn, and was contacted a few days prior to our planned stay by the manager or owner, Anna, who informed us that unfortunately due to HVAC issues she would have to cancel our stay.
She offered us either a discount off of a future stay, or a 50 dollar credit to the Bridge restaurant next door, and we took her up on the latter. She recommended a number of nearby places to stay instead, and we wound up getting a cheaper room at the Blue Chip casino nearby, and used our fifty dollar credit on some good drinks and typical Americana appetizers. Will definitely stay here if in the area again.
Clean and comfortable. Suite had a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Coffee packs provided but you might want to bring better coffee and filters. Nice have coffee on the balcony in the morning, or a drink in the evening. We'd stay again if visiting the area.
First trip to Michigan City and will be the last because of the stay here. Had to take our 6 week old puppy, unknowing that they are not pet friendly because they own the restaurant next door that boasts about being pet friendly. There are a lot of people with dogs on the property. Angie saw us with our puppy as we were leaving and told us it wasnât pet friendly but it was fine because she was a puppy and didnât do damage. When we got back home she texted me and charged me extra because of feces not cleaned up she said. The puppy never had an accident in the inn. So she is charging me for feces outside, where there is duck, and goose poop everywhere, along with the dogs from the restaurant. This place made our Michigan City experience horrible and it really makes me upset that the only money we spent in the city was at their hotel and restaurant. We will never be back. Absolutely horrible.
The room was clean. Staff was helpful and communicative.
Quiet area, at least during off season. The deck area was nice. Short walk to the lake front, about 15 minutes. Lots of dining options within walking distance.
Could use a bigger tv for night time relaxation.
It was awesome! The room was spotless! I don't normally take baths at hotels but the huge tub was spic and span so I got to soak my tiredness away that night. Since a bigger room with a balcony was available they upgraded us to it, complimentary, and checked us in early! We were worried about the train and big but it was fascinating to watch and the noise didn't bother us at all ! Wonderful place to stay.
The accommodations were fantastic and the suite was quite clean. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchenette and bathroom were nicely stocked with necessary items.
The only negative comment has to do with the trains that run directly behind the building. The sound of the running
train, the whistle and the alarm happened several times in the evening and once in the morning. Thank goodness they don't run through the night.
Overall, a cozy stay.
