Situated on the Monarch River, this beautiful, cozy and family oriented home is a short 5 minute drive to Monarch Mountain. It's the perfect "escape" no matter what time of year! The ski slopes, restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, and all of the amenities that the Salida and Garfield area have to offer are so easily accessible. Come relax and enjoy this home after an active day skiing or hiking the mountains - sitting by the river and enjoying the sights and sounds.

DURING WINTER MONTHS, IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU HAVE A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE, SNOW TIRES OR CHAINS!

The home offers:
~ Starlink internet
~ a large, open living/dining room with a high, vaulted ceiling
~ a fully equipped kitchen
~ 2 bathrooms, one with clawfoot tub, upstairs with tub and shower
~ a master bedroom with a king size bed and its own private deck looking down at a beautiful and tranquil creek
~ a second bedroom with a King size bed
~ a third bedroom with a full size bed
~ an open loft overlooking the living area
~ the all-natural snow at Monarch Mountain ski area is only 5 minutes away
~ historic downtown Salida is a beautiful 20 minute drive from this home
~ lots of windows, mirrors, light, and mountain decor make it a warm, wonderful vacation home

All Pinon homes are "vacation ready" with a fully appointed kitchen, towels and linens. Hand, dish and shower soaps are provided, as well as toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels, salt and pepper, coffee filters and laundry soap.

Pinon Vacation Rentals provides guest support from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm.

All guests are responsible for reading Welcome Book “Check-In and Check-Out instructions.

~Acceptance of the terms of the Rental Agreement and all Rental Policies is ASSUMED at the time of reservation. 24 to 48 hours before arrival, check-in instructions will be sent to guest.

**This home is rented for personal vacation use only. Any other use including large gatherings or parties is not allowed. Renters must abide by all rental terms and policies, as well as all local applicable property covenants, restrictions, regulations and laws. Any evidence of smoking, use of firearms, driving ATV's other than in the driveway as access only, unapproved pets, unauthorized use of property grounds, damage resulting from violation of rental policies, and/or excessive mess may result in charges up to $3000.00 to the Guest's credit card on file, as authorized by Guest's approval of the terms of the Rental Agreement.

Reservations may be canceled more than 30 days prior to check-in with full refund. 14 to 29 days prior to arrival 50% refund. No refunds will be issued after this cut-off date for any reason. No refunds will be issued due to weather conditions, spotty internet service or interruption of service.

Winter Wonderland

We came to this home a week before Thanksgiving and we got to live our winter wonderland dreams. Just enough snow that the kids were able to sled and build snowmen the whole trip, but not enough snow to keep us snowed it. Not too far from town, but very peaceful.This home is a place we want to come back and see during Spring/Summer.

Nice mountain house, but


This house was very nice and cozy. Getting there was easy until we actually got to the neighborhood. We had to drive around the area to find the street. The GPS stopped giving directions once we got to the general area. So heads up. Also, to lock the door you have to enter the code and then turn the dead bolt, another heads up. No dish washcloths were available so we had to buy some from the local grocery store. The upstairs bathroom shower curtain liner was dirty with mildew. You can smell it right away. The cleaning service needs to use bleach to clean that shower. Last but not least, the upstairs back bedroom had a creepy feeling to it, bad energy if you will, so nobody slept in it. Other than those little inconvenience, beautiful property, very quiet, beds were comfortable, and house was clean.

Perfect getaway for our family of 4!

Forest Creek Cabin was a perfect homebase for my family's recent Colorado vacation. The layout of the home enabled each of us to have our own space but also included beautiful communal areas where we could gather. The porches and balconies were definitely a highlight! The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Even though there is no central air conditioning, we were plenty cool from the refreshing mountain air. Plus, you can hear the rushing river when you have the windows open! We also found that the location was perfect for our needs. We were centrally located, so daytrips to Great Sand Dunes, Royal Gorge, and Leadville were all easy drives. Yet the cabin still felt remote enough that we had a peaceful, quiet spot to recharge at the end of the day. Nearby Salida is a beautiful little town, with lots of opportunities for great dining, shopping, and outdoor adventures. The guidebook app provided by Pinon Vacation Rentals was extremely helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Beautiful cabin in the woods

We loved our stay here. Super convenient location to the Hwy, but you’d never know you’re close. Definitely feel tucked away while still having walkable roads and little trails to explore. The river is just off the porch but down a steep embankment. Beautiful for looking and listening, but not for playing or fishing. We explored Monarch pass (gondolas were so fun!), Almont/Taylor Park Res for fly fishing, and Salida and BV for shops and restaurants. The cabin was clean, well stocked, beds were comfy, and TONS of great DVDs to choose from if you need some downtime. The area was quiet, safe, well-maintained, and we’d gladly come back!

The cabin was perfect for our needs. The property managers where attentive and helpful. Close to Monarch (4 minutes). Not too far off the main road but must have 4wd in winter as stated in info. Great experience.

We loved this cabin in the woods. There’s so many places to explore at this location. There’s plenty of room for family and everyone to have their own space. We loved how remote it felt, the cabin had everything we needed.

We enjoy going to this part of the state particularly more secluded areas but close enough to towns for access to groceries. This place was perfect. Had everything we needed. Could fit up to 10 people at least but we had a smaller group so more than enough room. Right by the river although the river was tough to access from where we were. No biggie. Overall great place. Look forward to coming back if it's available.

Good little spot

The house was great and clean. My only complaints were that in the listing it looks as though there’s a creek close that kids can play in, which is why we chose it, but it’s definitely a rushing river. Not safe for kids to be around. Also, I thought the check out process was a bit tedious. Having to do all dishes and start the washer seems silly since we pay a cleaning fee. Other than that very comfy, clean, and convenient to BV and Salida.
