Can Riera de Montagut is a restored 16th century masia, located in a quiet valley on the Fluvia River, in the La Garrotxa Nature Park. The masia is divided into 7 suites, each with its own private bathroom. It is the perfect location for a stay with a large family, group of friends, group vacation or retreat.

7 Spacious rooms with ensuite bathroom



Can Riera de Montagut is divided into 7 luxury suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Each suite is unique and has its own advantages and charms. The interior consists of a mix of modern furniture, design classics and authentic details. The house was completely renovated in 2019 and has new furniture.

New swimming pool



The house features a large saltwater swimming pool (14 x 4 meters) that was installed in 2023. The pool has a shallow section for small children, and there is a large terrace with loungers around the pool. The pool is professionally maintained and always in perfect condition.



Barbecue area



There is a spacious outdoor barbecue in the garden, which can be used all year round. This well-located facility is located near the swimming pool, next to a covered outdoor dining table and a short distance from a nearby bathroom. The barbecue can be used with charcoal and firewood. If available, you can use the firewood provided on site free of charge.



Fully equipped kitchen



The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with, among other things, 2 electric hobs, 2 electric ovens, 2 microwaves, 2 dishwashers and an authentic wood-fired oven for pizzas and bread.



Spacious dining room



The long, large table is ideal for a luxurious dinner or game nights.



For small children

We have baby cots, high chairs, changing tables and children's crockery available.



South-facing terrace

Adjacent to the kitchen and dining room is the south-facing terrace, where there are various seating areas.



Spacious garden

Enjoy the Catalan sun or find shade under the large walnut tree. There is also a covered terrace for dining outside in the shade on hot days. There is also a large, movable BBQ available.



Barbecue and pizza oven



The house has a great BBQ and we also offer wood and kindling for our guests. In addition, we also have a wood-fired pizza oven for evenings when it is not too hot.



Activity room

The activity room can be used for various purposes, such as meetings, workshops, presentations, drinks or yoga classes.



Bicycle friendly



Can Riera de Montagut is a popular home base for cyclists. To better serve cycling groups, the masia is equipped with a repair station and a lockable storage room for bicycles. Can Riera de Montagut has a Bronze certificate for cycling friendly.

Below the house is an extra room where there is currently a ping pong table. This space can be used in various ways.



Weddings, celebrations, workshops, events



The house is suitable for organizing celebrations, such as birthdays or anniversaries. In addition, it is also ideal for organizing workshops, team building or group vacations.



Before you book, we would like to know how many guests you want to invite. We have a maximum of 40 day guests for events.



Party venue



If you want to organize a large party for more than 40 guests, we recommend renting the nearby party hall in Montagut. All facilities are available here. The house is within walking distance of this location. We are happy to put you in touch with this location.



Catering



For catering, we work with a fixed partner who has experience with catering for weddings and birthdays at Can Riera de Montagut. We are happy to put you in touch with this caterer so that you can make direct arrangements with them. Of course, it is also possible to work with other catering companies.



Home cooks



It is also possible to hire a chef to prepare a delicious dinner. Our kitchen is large and fully equipped and there are plenty of seats in the dining room and on the terrace. We are happy to share our recommendations for chefs.



Neighbors



Can Riera has 2 direct neighbors, but due to the layout and location of the house, there is a lot of privacy and the neighbors rarely suffer from noise pollution and vice versa. However, we do ask our guests not to make noise outside after 22:00. The house is very well insulated due to its thick walls, so more noise can be produced inside after 22:00.



Late departure



Outside the high season, it is often possible to leave later on Sunday than the standard departure time of 11:00. In that case, you can use the house until the afternoon. If you want to use this, please contact us to discuss and plan a later departure.



Accessibility and parking



The house is very easily accessible by car. There is a paved road from the A-26, the highway from Girona to Olot, to the house. From the A-26 it is only a 3-minute drive to the house. The masia has plenty of covered parking for 4 cars adjacent to the garden.



Space for 11 extra guests

If necessary, there is room for 5+6 extra guests in 2 nearby apartments. These apartments are just a 5-minute walk from Can Riera de Montagut.



Can Blanc de Montagut - 'Baix' (6 people)

This is an apartment with 3 bedrooms, 1 bedroom, terrace, large kitchen, dining room and living room.



Can Blanc de Montagut - 'Dalt' (5 people)

This is an apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen and large dining and living room.



Both apartments share a communal garden with a large swimming pool.



These apartments are also rented out by us (Els Majordoms) and have the same style and quality.



Guests have full access to the accommodation, garden, and pool. They are not shared with other guests or residents.



The pool is available all year round. The pool is shared with guests from nearby accommodations.



The barbecue is available from October 16th to March 14th. During the rest of the year, the barbecue is not available due to the high risk of forest fires.

Can Riera de Montagut is located in a peaceful valley next to the Fluvia River. The house is only 1.5 km from the A26 between Olot and BesalĂș, and almost all the attractions in the area can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes.



The Neighborhood: Els Angles

Can Riera de Montagut is located in the area of "Els Angles". It is a peaceful valley with fields, a few houses, and a farm at the foot of the famous village of "Castellfollit de la Roca". The valley is formed by the Fluvia River that runs through it. From the house, there are several short and long hiking trails along the Fluvia, through the mountains, and up to Castellfollit de la Roca, which is only a 40-minute walk from Can Riera de Montagut.

- Walk along the Fluvia (30 minutes) - A short walk through the forest along the river. Many aquatic birds and fish can be observed.

- Hiking to Castellfollit de la Roca (40 minutes) - Impressive mountain village built on the edge of a 50-meter high basalt cliff.

- Hiking Baumes de Caxurma (2h30) - Hiking with views of the Pyrenees, through caves and next to Castellfollit de la Roca.

Can Riera de Montagut is located on the outskirts of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. The volcanic zone of Garrotxa is a special natural area composed of 40 volcanic craters. The region is known for its beautiful hiking and cycling trails, old villages, and delicious cuisine. Thanks to its good access, Can Riera is an ideal starting point for exploring the region.

- Fageda d'en Jorda (20 minutes by car) - A particular beech forest on the edge of the Croscat volcano.
