White Rock Cabin
White Rock Cabin Enjoy the feeling of camping/glamping, while having the comfort of a regular cottage. Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the stars, enjoy a fire in the fire pit. We are on a gravel road that runs along the North Fork of the Tye River, in the middle of the George Washington National Forest. There you can find solitude among native plantings, tall trees, and the porches overlooking mountains and woods. You'll find the kitchen amply provisioned whether you want to grill, smoke or microwave. From our front door you can walk along the trout-stocked river or you can venture out to locals-only hikes, 250 year old operating orchards/berry farms, Crabtree Falls, the Appalachian Trail, and Blue Ridge Parkway. All are within several miles, and it is 30 minutes to the 151 trail of wineries, cideries, and breweries, as well as Wintergreen. The cabin features a hot tub, a fire pit, outdoor shower and has two bedrooms, each with a with queen bed. New for 2023, high speed internet. Note: there is no direct cell phone coverage, there is a house phone, and some cell carriers allow wifi connection for cell phones.Â
Our stay here was phenomenal. The host was gracious and genenrous and wonderful with communication both through messages and through written signage around the property to tell you where everything is. The house has everything you would need plus more. I'm incredibly grateful for this stay and highly recommend anyone come here if theyre looking for a place to escape responsibility and explore wilderness
Wonderful stay. The property sits in a nice quiet spot with gorgeous views of nature. You can hear the river from the front porch. Home was very cozy and comfortable. Everything one could need was there. Loved the hot tub and being able to view such beautiful nature from it. Beautiful gardens outside. Host was amazing. Super responsive and helpful. Could not ask for a better trip.
Beautiful stay. Everything other reviews stated are accurate. The interior design of the place is pure art makes you feel relaxed. The roads getting to the mountains cabin are twisty and takes a bit of time getting to nearby places so we planned accordingly. But thatâs why the place is perfect get away. Hearing the creek with windows opened at night was heavenly.
This cute cabin was quite comfortable and ideally situated. We loved listening to the river and walking alongside it. We were able to explore Crabtree Falls, Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail and other attractions in the surrounding region. The host was very responsive, the cabin was well-kept and the grounds were lovely with native plants and a hot tub! This is a perfect getaway spot!
We recently stayed here in early April 2025. We got to experience amazing spring blooms from native flowers, a beautiful and remote home, quiet atmosphere and surroundings, complete with excellent proximity to a number of outdoor activities. Our hosts were very thoughtful, helpful, and provided plenty of suggestions and tips for the area as well as a clean home with board games, views, amenities, etc.I couldn't recommend this home more and we will assuredly make it a point to return to this home, given the opportunity.Come support this host and enjoy this spectacular setting!
Head down a windy road along stride a rocky creek to find your beautiful rustic cabin. Walk inside and get invited by the warm fireplace and wonderfully sage green kitchen. Tired from a long day? The hot tub was a perfect spot to whine down and gaze at the stars. What a wonderful place to stay!!
Secluded, private, and peaceful cabin. The host was very helpful and attentive. The cabin was well stocked and felt very homey. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
We had a great stay! We spent our days exploring the nearby area then came back to relax by the fire and enjoy the hot tub. It was nice to be able to hear the river as soon as we walked outside. Scott was very helpful and responsive to any questions leading up to the stay. Once we were there everything was labeled and we honestly didnât need anything. Both my husband and I thought the beds were comfortable. It was a relaxing and restorative trip. It felt nice to be secluded in nature for a few days. We hope to go back again!
Such a wonderful remote spot to get away from city life. Scott went above and beyond with all of the amenities and little extras that made you feel at home. The hot tub located outside was the best where you could sit, relax and unwind, it was just perfect! We will definitely be back!
Absolutely beautiful location nice and tucked away. The hot tub was clean and a wonderful addition to the cute cabin feel. You can also hear the river from the hot tub :)
If you want a warm & cozy semi-secluded cabin in the mountains with beautiful views and great trails/hiking opportunities while only being 30-45 minutes from a plethora of breweries, wineries, cideries, and other outdoor activities to choose from, then White Rock Cabin is a must! We loved how we felt at home when we walked into the cabin. I was immediately drawn to all the antique items throughout the cabin, which only added to its warmth. We had everything we needed, the wifi strength was strong & reliable, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Our dogs felt right at home and loved going on walks to explore with us. While staying, even if youâre not a hot tub person, you have to experience sitting out in it at night under the stars with the mountains as the backdrop. Scott, our host, made sure we had any information we needed prior to arrival along with additional area information and a written note from him & his wife upon arrival. He is a wonderful host!
Scott was a super host. Everything was above our expectations. We have not had a better stay in recent memory. Definitely looking forward to staying here again in the future.
Decided on a semi-last minute trip out of the city into the mountains. Stay was great. Scott was an excellent host - quick to communicate & went above and beyond in answering questions. Great recommendations for things to do locally.
House was prefect if you're looking for a rural get away. Plenty to do in the area around the property, but also all the things you'd need if you just wanted to stay in and relax.
Also - really appreciated that Scott didn't require an extensive check-out process unlike many other rental properties.
We absolutely loved our stay. The cabin is very comfortable and has everything you might need. We loved hearing the sound of the river while we slept with the window open and enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning. The hot tub and outdoor shower were warm enough to enjoy on a cool fall day and very pleasant as the view of the forest, the garden plantings, and the deep toned wind chimes were great. While we had planned to spend part of a day at Crabtree Falls, we decided to just stay around the cabin and walk our dogs along the cabin road as it is a beautiful walk along the river.
This is a cozy and very well furnished cabin. You can hear the creek babbling nearby. We enjoyed the hot tub at night after hiking Crabtree Falls. We hope to return to this great get away.
Tip: I made the mistake of failing to plan in advance to have no cell service, and was unable to access the key code upon our arrival. I had to drive about 15 minutes down the road to find service again to contact the property owner, who was incredibly responsive and accommodating. Be sure in advance to avoid my mistake, ensure VRBO sends you access info and save it where you can access it.
Very lovely property for quiet getaway. The house is very well equipped including great instructions from the owner on how things work or where to find things. Also enjoyed some beautiful hiking opportunities in the area. Really enjoyed our stay.
Perfect secluded location for visiting Nelson County and surroundings.
From the beginning Scott's communication was friendly. clear, generous, and informative. We found the cabin easily from his directions. Our first impressions were that it was clean, spacious, very nicely decorated and - importantly for the middle of an extreme heatwave - airy and cool.
A generous set of basic items was provided: condiments, pulses, fruit, eggs, tea, coffee, and the like; along with toiletries and useful medications (including an epipen for emergencies). It felt like we could practically have just turned up in our clothes and been able to manage for our stay. There's a full kitchen, including several ways to make coffee, and two options for outdoor cooking (gas grill and pellet smoker). Every eventuality we might have thought of, including charger cables, washing machine, and tumble dryer, was provided for in some way.
The cabin gives an impression of isolation while being close enough to Montebello and Lovingston that normal grocery shopping is convenient. Trails on the Blue Ridge and within George Washington and Jefferson Forest are within easy reach and you can begin them early before the rush starts. It's nestled in White Rock Valley, surrounded by trees and set within a planned garden with pickable fruit and a hot tub (weather sadly too warm for us to take advantage). It was a delight to come back from a long trail and relax by grilling our evening meal out front.
We would happily return for a longer stay!
