*Other than the Sandy island near the dam, Buffalo Lake is more of a fishing lake than a swimming lake. It can get quite weedy in the summer.

Our home does have some outdoor cameras for security purposes, but none indoor.

We had an excellent time at "Under the Oaks". The layout of the home was perfect for our family. The dining table was awesome considering we had 10 people sitting around it at most meals. Well stocked kitchen and quiet sleeping. The living room (sunroom) is a great space from the time the sun comes up until you are ready to go to bed. The doors on the space allowed us to stay up late in the area while the kids slept.We hung out in the front yard a ton. It was 85 every day while we were there. We happened to have a slip n' slide for the kids that became the mini pool for the adults. Definitely recommend some form of water during the heart of the summer. We fished for pan fish all weekend too. We caught fish on every other cast. Unfortunately, no swimming with the amount of seaweed and lily pads. Again, happy we had an alternative water source.

Very nice getaway

Wanted to spend a relaxing weekend in winter scenery with family and friends. “Under the Oaks” was a perfect choice. Cottage was spacious and charming. Nice lake views, cozy family room with vaulted ceilings was perfect spot for morning coffee. Seamless communication with owner.Definitely recommending that place for anyone

Great family get away

This was a great location for our family to be able to get together. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the lake! The large table gave us room to eat together and to play game after a game. We had nice spaces and prepping food. The host was very helpful and responsive.

There were many areas of the property that was well utilized. The dock for fishing, the hammock for relaxing, the fire pit for great stories, and the dining room for great meals and games. Thanks for being a part of our memories in the making with our children and grand children.

Great cabin in the woods, super cozy

Our group had a wonderful stay. We were going to explore the Dells and also wanted a place that we could hang out together and relax. The cabin is wonderful and we had so much fun. Kayaking was fun in the lake and just relaxing at the house was just what we needed. Having the house all ready to go and we could just get settled was just great. Everything we could need was there and it made our trip super easy. Highly recommend the cabin and the hosts were wonderful. Thanks for the great stay.

My first time using VRBO. This property was very cozy and everyone enjoyed the room with all the windows. We were able to enjoy the view of the lake, relax and talk. We rented this property for a multi-generational family get-together and were very pleased. The sleeping spaces were comfortable, the common spaces were nice and large, and the outside of the home had all the amenities that each of us needed / wanted for our week of relaxation. The owners were very good about communicating / responding to questions... it was great. We're already considering going back again in the future.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Such a cozy, peaceful property and inviting home to relax and reconnect with family! There is plenty to do onsite or you can spend time exploring the surrounding areas too. We did a bit of both. Fished off of the pier and caught bluegill and perch, enough for a nice meal for the three of us. We also enjoyed kayaking on the lake, dining outside on the deck and relaxing by the bonfire in the evening. Spent a day golfing and hiking around the John Muir Memorial County Park, and also took a day trip to visit the Aldo Leopold Farm and Shack in Baraboo and ended our day with a nice meal at Ishnala Supper Club in the Dells. Played board games in the evening in the cozy upper level of the cabin and had time to catch up on some reading, as well. Good communication with the property owners before and during our stay. So much more to do and explore in the area and would love to come back another time soon! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

This house is super cute! We had 8 adults staying here for a girls weekend and we were very comfortable in this cottage. The beds were extremely comfortable, the house was well-stocked and we had everything we needed. The hosts were super friendly and easy to communicate with.

We didn’t have access to the grill and it was a few days into the stay before we were advised how to access. It’s very peaceful and we did enjoy it. The fishing was great and we would consider staying again. The hosts are responsive.

College Girls’ Wknd Never Disappoints

The home is immaculate! Being under the oaks is beautiful! It’s a shallow, peaceful lake. An ideal location for bot watching, fishing, kayaking & just relaxing! Keep doing what you’re doing Dan & Meg! Thx for the memories!

Great Time Under the Oaks

We had the best time at this property for a birthday get together with friends! The house is super cute with comfortable beds, large front yard, deck, fire pit, grill and kayaks, all as described. We comfortably fit our group of 13 people each night. The hosts were really communicative leading up to and during our stay when we had any questions. When booked months prior, we did think we would be able to swim in the lake, however it is only usable if you rent boat. Despite what another review noted, we did not have any major issues with bugs. We packed eye masks for those sleeping in the game room and living room. The Lodge at Buffalo Lake is just a few houses down and great for food or drinks. Thank you, Dan and Meg!

Beautiful and clean home

The home was spotless and beautifully updated inside and out. The beds are very high quality with plenty of pillows and bedding - we all slept well. Note that there are no window treatments in the living room with the pull-out couch or the upstairs game room with the futon (both of which were extremely comfortable for non-traditional beds!) -- anyone wishing to sleep in those may wish to wear an eye mask to block the early morning sun. The kitchen was well-stocked. The lake was a little smelly but we did enjoy the kayaks nevertheless, and enjoyed the beautiful sunset views. The area seems to have a midge problem (due to the lake) - they were super active at night, and since we arrived after sunset, they swarmed our van as we were unloading our luggage and then flew into the house as we brought it inside. Harmless to humans, just annoying to deal with when we needed to open the door after dark. We spent most of our time there at the Dells and didn't mind the drive - would definitely stay again!

Nice stay

Family stayed for the weekend, found the house to be a cute, well maintained and cozy place to relax. Lake was not usable for swimming, but had fun fishing.
