I sat on this review. I will start with the good. The location was great. Other than that thatâs about the only good thing this hotel had to offer. It advertised a playground. There was none. We ended up going to the surrounding hotels for food and drinks. The room was lack luster. The twin beds were in a literal closet. The ladder didnât work and ended up falling on my 2 year olds foot. Maintenance never showed up to fix the ladder. Check in was supposed to be at 4 p.m. we didnât get to check in until 7 p.m. Oh and to top it off I was only offered a refund of $75-$100 if I lied and gave them a 5 star review. My conscious wouldnât allow me to lie for some money. Therefore this is my real review. If you can deal with All of this then this would be perfect for you. As far as for me & my family, we wonât be staying here again. Itâs clear the reviews are being paid for
We enjoyed our stay at Willow bay . The property was situated right on the beach . Fantastic view from the 7 th floor of the ocean . Great location. And easy parking . The suite itself was spacious and clean . Will definitely stay here again . Definitely a great place to bring the family for a Myrtle beach getaway .
This was honestly the worst hotel Iâve stayed at. There is never anyone at the front desk. You have to call to get in touch with someone, and even then they donât answer. Every pool and hot tub was closed, and nobody made us aware of that prior. All of the surrounding hotels had their pools open. I never saw anyone cleaning. There was trash piled in the hallway. There was no extra trash bags. The air conditioning DID NOT cool the room. We had to go to Walmart to buy a fan to even be semi comfortable. This is the furthest from a âresortâ.
Our toilet didnât work, they came to fix it but it flooded our bathroom and the property wouldnât compensate us. I have contacted the property and they never responded. I contacted Expedia and the gave me key cash⊠not enough considering I booked a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom because we needed it. This 2 days was a lot of money to not have the basic room description available.
Extremely disappointing stay. The property is poorly maintained, with unacceptable cleanliness standards. The pool and hot tub were both out of service, and the bathroom had major issues â the bathtub drained slowly, the toilets were dirty, and the flush barely worked. The hotel appeared short-staffed, leading to long wait times at check-in. I wasnât given my room until two hours after the stated check-in time. Overall, this was a terrible experience and absolutely not worth the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The people were so nice. So helpful. Older property but quaint and charming. Not as busy as surrounding hotels. Lots of ongoing improvements to the rooms. Internet pretty strong. Little pizza grocery right outside the front entrance. Parking so easy.
Our first stay at Willow Bay Resort.We travels from Florida.0ur first contact was a welcome call from the front desk. They gave us our room number and easy access code for the room. This made our checkin seamless and easy! We arrived in the room to find an incredibly clean and well appointed room. The bed was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was spotless. This room had an amazing view of the ocean. The view was beautiful, my wife stared out the window with amazement. The access to the beach was easy and close. We came for the beach and the access was close and easy. The staff and front desk were friendly and accommodating to all our needs. This property was amazing and not easy to forget! We plan to revisit soon. Overall this was an A resort!
This place seems to have been review-bombed with positive reviews that might have been paid for or something, because youâd have to be missing part of your frontal lobe to give this a 10/10.
Iâll start with the good:
- Mary (the on-site attendant) is very responsive and friendly.
- The property is right on the beach.
- The text before check-in is detailed enough to get you there.
- Temperature control is decent.
- The rate was not over-priced and you can see why below.
The not-so-good:
- The pictures donât match the property at all. Either they were staged and/or there were filters applied.
- Half the time, there was someone smoking weed in a nearby unit and it got old real fast. It was gross.
- Both jacuzzis are out of commission, which is also misleading and thereâs signs for vending but no vending machines.
- The furniture in our unit was dirty, most notably the couch and the floor was covered in sand.
This place needs a lot of investment and a lot of work for people to not feel like theyâve been duped.
This resort looked good when booking online. The pictures were definitely taken to make it look better than it was. The lobby and room were clean. The common areas were on the dirty side and the smell was not very pleasant. Outside they had replaced boards on the boardwalk to the beach. This is always appreciated except they left the old rotten boards right next to the boardwalk and it made it dangerous. The pools and hot tub were not functional and were disgusting to look at. The two neighboring resorts has nice clean pools. There was a gathering very late into the night and it made it unbearable to stay in the room or try to sleep. The staff was very polite and responsive and eventually got the noise to stop. I come to Myrtle multiple times a year. This was by far the worst place I have stayed at. Rather than being well rested on my trip, I was more tired that when I started. There are two wicked bright lights for the exterior rear. They are positioned right above two of the top floor bedrooms, and one was in my room. The curtains have gaps and let it more light than the sun. I had to go to the store and get make shift ties to keep the curtains together to not let in the light above the room. I can say without a doubt, I will not be staying here again and I will not recommend Willow Bay to anyone traveling to Myrtle.
People are nice as can be. Anytime you need they bring to your room. We enjoyed being able to cook and vacation on a budget. Less going out to eat left more money for activities in the area. The ocean view was beautiful. We will be back.
The two ladies working there were very helpful and truly care about their customers, they went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I were happy with our stay. Weâve stayed in motels everywhere but have never stayed in a nicer more clean motel than Willow Bay. We highly recommend this place , we will definitely be staying there in the future.
Absolutely great location with great ocean views and super easy beach access. Staff is friendly, helpful and responsive. Location is walkable (1/2 mile or less) to restaurants and stores. The bedding could stand to be replaced/updated and adding a fan of some kind to the bedroom would be a nice improvement.
Everything was nice however there were a couple dogs that sounded like they were fighting. I would definitely stay again. Thank you for checking on us.
I always love my stay at willow bay report. It is the only resort I stay at when I am in Myrtle beach. The staff is amazing the resort is clean and beautiful. I love it so much
