I arrived and was greeted with a a free drink then taken to my room which was extremely clean and spacious and had a view to die for. hotel staff are friendly and will do anything to help. the hotel is on the beach has a good pool also. well worth a stay

This was the most terrible stay. The hotel was dilapidated, and did not look safe. There were holes in the walls, construction was going on, and the bathroom was not clean. Our balcony looked over a green murky pool in the adjacent property with mosquitoes on our balcony. We did not want to sleep in the bed and slept in our clothes and did not sleep well as the power went out at least 20 times during the night. No air or electricity . We checked out the next morning ( we were supposed to stay 2 nights). The staff were friendly and obviously not their fault. Not sure if the hotel is under renovations but do not think our rooms should be inhabited at this time.

Check-in was smooth and the location is convenient, but my main issue was the overall condition of the property. The photos online don’t reflect the current state very accurately. During my stay there was construction work underway, including installation of a second lift, which made the shared areas dusty and the environment noticeably noisy. The restaurant also felt quite dated and looked neglected. The room itself also needed attention. The general upkeep felt tired and outdated, with paint marks, visible nails left in the walls where pictures were missing, and water stains on the walls. Even small details were overlooked—there were empty information folders with no useful content, and the telephone in the room wasn’t working. While it’s not directly the hotel’s fault, the adjoining premises appeared abandoned, and the pool there had stagnant water and a strong, unpleasant smell. Unfortunately, the odor made it uncomfortable to stay in the room at times, and the view of the pool with putrid water was very unpleasant. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and dinner was ok.

Das Zimmer war in der fĂŒnften Etage, mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf das Meer! Das Zimmer war nicht auf dem neuesten Stand, aber sauber, großzĂŒgig und absolut in Ordnung. Auch das Badezimmer. Die ganzen schlechten Bewertungen finde ich absolut nicht in Ordnung. Wenn man 70,- € pro Nacht, fĂŒr ein Doppelzimmer, mit einem solchen Blick und FrĂŒhstĂŒck bezahlt, kann man keinen fĂŒnf Sterneluxus erwarten! Die Menschen die im Hotel arbeiten, waren Alle unglaublich freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Wir wĂŒrden hier auf jeden Fall wieder hingehen!!!

Ett mycket mÀrkligt stÀlle med förvirrad personal. Av nÄgon anledning blev vi felaktigt uppgraderade, fick byta rum efter ett dygn vilket innebar att vi fick lÀgga en timme packa ihop och packa upp igen, ingen ursÀkt frÄn personalen utan snarare Àn attityd att det var vi som hade orsakat felet. Rummen Àr ljusa och frÀscha, vilket inte kan sÀgas om restaurangen pÄ plan sju som Àr ofrÀsch och sunkig. Baren med poolen pÄ bottenplanet Àr betydligt trevligare, till detta har man en anslutning till stranden och fria vilstolar.

Value for money hotel

The beacon beach hotel is on the beach so you walk pass the pool and your on the beach. The room was clean every day . Staff always on hand to help . The breakfast was value for money . You can get a tuk tuk into negombo town centre for about two pounds its cheap to eat out and very good.i would go back again

This a great property right on the beach & not far from the airport so perfect for us after our delayed flight arrival at 1am. The beach is quite strewn with rubbish so probably not a great spot for a long stay but the hotel pool & surrounds are very pleasant and the breakfast area on the top floor has magnificent views. The sheets & towels are a bit old & rooms probably need a bit of refreshing but this is by no means a 5 star hotel, So overall very good value for money.

We arrived straight from the airport at around 3.30am the hotel was in darkness and completely closed. The street also in complete darkness, no cars, people but lots of dogs everywhere, we love dogs but felt very uncomfortable and not safe. We shouted hello numerous times to see if security or someone was around. We also tried to call but call wasn’t going through. We actually thought we’d been scammed! We waited around for over an hour looking for transport and alternative accommodation. We made one final attempt to get a response by shouting very loudly through a gap in the doorway and finally lights went on and a porter opened the doors, a member of staff eventually came down from bed to check us in, this took around 30 mins and we finally made it to our rooms. The following morning the key snapped in the lock and we left it with reception on return to the hotel no one knew anything about our key and there didn’t appear to be any comms between staff and we spent a further 30 mins waiting to get in our room! You can walk into the beach from the rear of the hotel, we liked listening to the waves but the beach is very dirty full of plastic that has been swept into little pile but then left there! We wouldn’t stay here again.

Tilasimme tÀstÀ hotellista lentokenttÀkuljetuksen, joka olisi kustantanut n.60$. Lentomme oli hieman myöhÀssÀ, joten meitÀ ei odottanutkaan kukaan kentÀllÀ. Saimme apua ja otimme taksin. Suosittelen ottamaan taksin, joita kentÀltÀ ulos saapuessa on pilvin pimein ja sopimaan hinnan etukÀteen. Se on edullisempi kuin hotellien lentokenttÀkuljetukset. Kannattaa laittaa hotellin tarkka osoite ja puhelinnumero ylös ja myös reittiohje hyvÀ ladata googlemapsiin valmiiksi. Kaikki kuskit eivÀt tiedÀ tarkkaan missÀ mikÀkin hotelli sijaitsee. TÀssÀ hotellissa meri oli lÀhellÀ ja mikÀli et mereen uskaltaudu voi altaassa vilvoitella. Ravintola altaalla, josta voi tilata viileitÀ juomia ja ruokaa rannalle. EnsimmÀisenÀ aamuna aamupala tarjoiltiin listalta. Tuntui hieman köykÀiseltÀ, koska oletettiin sen olevan buffet aamiainen. Toisena aamuna meidÀt ohjattiinkin 7 kerroksen ravintolaan, jossa olikin tÀmÀ buffet aamiainen. HyvÀ ja runsas valikoima aamupalassa. Mietimme, ettÀ olisikohan myös ensimmÀisenÀ aamuna ollut buffet aamiainen ylimmÀssÀ kerroksessa. Ruoka oli hyvÀÀ. Palvelu oli erinomaista sekÀ sujuvaa ja sisÀÀnkirjautuminenkin meni hyvin. Rakennus hieman vanha ja se nÀkyi pinnoissa ym. Kalasatama hotellimme lÀhellÀ rannalla hÀiritsi hiukan. Rannalla oli jonkin verran roskaa. Kaupustelijoita oli liikkeellÀ tÀÀllÀ pÀin.

The view was amazing! The location right on the beach is perfect but it’s showing its age. The staf were fine, not overly friendly but not at all rude.

Well run and very welcoming hotel. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. On quieter end of beach and close to lots of very good restaurants. Would certain!y return and have no problem recommending. Rooms are perfectly nice with AC, tv and tea/coffee facilities and wifi. Bathrooms are modern and toiletries are provided. Request seaview room and if a priority, rooms above 3rd floor will give best views as palm trees restrict the view a little bit.
