Red Juniper Retreat

This beautiful and private 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom pet-friendly retreat is nestled in a peaceful, well-maintained community in the heart of New Kent. The home features a King bedroom, a Queen bedroom, and a third bedroom with two Queen beds, comfortably accommodating up to 8 guests. For entertainment, each bedroom and the living room are equipped with 4K smart TVs, complemented by high-speed internet for seamless streaming and connectivity.

This tranquil retreat is thoughtfully furnished to maximize space and create a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The fully stocked kitchen, featuring brand-new appliances, seamlessly flows into a spacious dining area—perfect for gathering and sharing meals. Step onto the covered back porch, which overlooks a large, fenced backyard where your four-legged companions can roam freely. Enjoy outdoor cooking with the propane grill and accessories, or unwind around the backyard fire pit—we provide all the wood and gas for your convenience.

During the summer months, guests are welcome to pick fresh seasonal vegetables from our raised garden beds. For entertainment, we offer a variety of games for all ages, including classics like Monopoly, Jenga, and Cornhole, along with the popular Giant Connect Four. Families with young children will also find a high chair, a pack ‘n play, and specially designed plates and cups to make their stay even more comfortable.

New Kent is a peaceful and beautiful county surrounded by wineries, craft breweries, wedding venues, and public golf courses.

We are located just 30 minutes from both Richmond and Colonial Williamsburg and 20 minutes from Richmond International Airport (RIC). If you're wanting to hit the beach for the day, Yorktown beach is a 45 min drive away.

Within a short drive you can enjoy trendy shops, restaurants, amusement parks, museums, and world renowned historical sites.

Short Stay for Baseball

We had a short weekend stay for a baseball tournament and this lovely house did not disappoint. Walked in to chocolates, snacks, and more! Secluded and quiet. Big yard for our pup to enjoy. Games for family downtime. If we are back in the area we will definitely stay again!

Great family time!

The house was absolutely beautiful and very clean. There was plenty of room for the family that came and visited with us. The yard was also perfect for our two dogs to run around in. We will definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

Great weekend in Virginia!

The Red Juniper Retreat was a great find. We were in New Kent for the weekend of the Virginia Derby. The house is located in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood that is only 6 miles from Colonial Downs. The booking and all communication with Jazmin was top notch. She was very responsive and has literally thought of everything, from the welcome basket with the snacks, smore making kit and a bottle of wine, to all of the amenities for our dogs—beds, bowls, waste bags, gloves and a beautiful fenced in back yard. There was a lovely coffee bar and the kitchen is very well equipped—nice set of pans that were all non toxic andTeflon free, spices, oils and all the utensils you would need. After the races, we came back to the house for a nice evening in the back yard around the fancy Solo Stove fire pit. The beds were extremely comfortable. All linens and towels were provided. Also only a 30 minute drive to Williamsburg and in close proximity to RT64, I would book this house again in a minute.

Great Girl's Getaway!

Our stay this past weekend was wonderful. I literally have no conplaints about the property. It was very clean, well stocked and had everything there that we would need for our stay. Every time we thought we'd need to run to the store for something we'd find it in the house strategically labled. I loved the labels in the kitchen and light switches. Took the guess work out of finding things. The kitchen literally had every appliance you would ever need. The welcome basket and the smores station was a bonus I just loved it.They even had amenities for your pup should you decide to bring them along. The beds were super comfy as well. The outside was well maintained and we overly enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit. Now, the host she was just amazing! Always a quick and friendly response away, wish I could have met her in person just to give her a hug. If ever my travels bring me back to the richmond area I would not hesitate to book this property again. It was a little farther out than I expected but the peace and relaxation of the neighborhood was well worth the drive. Top notch accommodations, I HIGHLY recommend you book with this property if visiting the Richmond area.

Short stay for our daughter’s baby shower

We were in town for our daughter’s baby shower (she lives about 30 min away) and need a place for us and our son’s family that was dog friendly. This lovely home met all our needs. The owner was very easy to work with and promptly answered all our questions. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The was a wonderful welcome basket when we arrived. Beautiful Place!

A bunch of friends and myself stayed here and it was amazing! The primary bedroom mattress was extremely comfortable, the house is beautiful and well put together, and the amenities were great! Host is responsive to questions and easy to work with. It’s not close to the major cities, but it’s in the middle of them and easy to drive too. An amazing escape! Highly recommend!

Wonderful get away!

This home and host truly surpass 5 stars! Exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated and so many well thought out details! We were also able to catch up on some much needed sleep given the very quiet private location and very comfy couch and bed. We had our two dogs with us, and they settled in very quickly and loved having a fenced yard for off leash time. The neighborhood road is also a great loop for an on leash walk. We chose this location because we were in town for a family friend's surprise birthday party in Hopewell, and wanted to be just far enough away to not be discovered beforehand, but close enough for an easy drive. The location was perfect, also a 30 minute easy drive to Williamsburg, and other surrounding points of interest. We also enjoyed the nature trails local to New Kent as well as eateries in the area. Would definitely stay here again when returning to the area!

Spotless peace and quiet

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Lovely home with many thoughtful touches. The snack basket in the kitchen was wonderful. There were fixings for s’mores however we had rainy weather and opted not to build a fire in the fire pit. All kitchen cabinets and drawers have labels which made finding things so simple. Many beautiful plants and two porches to enjoy your morning coffee weather permitting. Very peaceful and quiet. Would love to stay again. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Wedding weekend

My daughter was getting married at the Williamsburg Winery and we wanted a place to stay where we could bring our dogs and have a family dinner the evening after the wedding. The property was amazing and the house well appointed. Wonderful amenities. The hosts thought of everything! Thank you! Although we understood the presence of security cameras it gave us the feeling that ‘big brother’ was watching.

Very comfortable and well situated

We were two couples traveling together with two dogs and we stayed at Red Juniper Retreat for three weeks. The house was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen,bathrooms and laundry were well stocked. Pots and pans were plentiful and of good quality. Communication with the owners was exceptional. One of the nicest properties we have stayed at and we highly recommend it.

House was clean, well decorated, and able to accomodate 4 adults and two kids with ease. Unexpected and much appreciated the kitchen was fully stocked with every dish/pot/pan/cooking utensil imaginable and there was also two types of phone chargers for every bedroom. Owners diligently responded to any questions and were always kind, helpful, and courteous. The house was only a quick 25-30 minute drive to Williamsburg so even though its in a quaint area, it did not impact our stay. We also took our two dogs (yorkies) and there were amenities available for them as well. Overall great option for families and fur babies!

Great rural location with easy access to great sights!

Really enjoyed the great stay. Courtesy was their communication and clean/comfortable was the accommodations! Even a nice little gift! Our grandkids loved the back yard and we got all our laundry done!
