There is so much to enjoy in the neighborhood. The home is two short blocks (900 feet) from Magazine Street. Start off the day there with coffee and pastries at PJ's Coffee or District Donuts. After breakfast, the shops on Magazine open, and you can choose whether you want to shop for clothes at Joseph Boutique, Azby's. or Pied Nu. You may decide to get a new pair of jeans at Jean Therapy or shop for luxury gifts and home goods at Hazelnut, a boutique owned by Bryan Batt of Mad Men fame. Sit outside for lunch at Whole Foods, which is housed in Arabella Station, a National Register of Historic Places building that once served as a carbarn for storage and parking of streetcars.
After lunch, you can get a blowout at Paris Parker Salon or a massage and facial at Earthsavers while you stock up on skincare. Don't forget Bluemercury for luxury makeup (they also handle the Jack Black men's line). If you are in a more literary state of mind, browse Octavia Books, one of New Orleans' premier independent bookstores.
Enjoy a fantastic dinner at one of the restaurants in close walking distance. Saba, featuring Middle Eastern cuisine, is one of the restaurants owned by Alon Shaya, a James Beard Award-winning chef. Dine on elegant Italian fare at Avo or try La CrĂšpe Nanou, a romantic neighborhood French bistro and CrĂšperie.
After dinner, you can end the night at St. Joe's Bar where you can easily walk home. Monkey Hill Bar is also within walking distance, or you may decide to venture beyond the neighborhood to Maple Street, Tipitina's, or Frenchmen for live music and dancing. Recuperate the next day with a superfood smoothie from Main Squeeze.
A short 3 block walk (2 minutes maximum) takes you to the Mardi Gras Parade Route. Audubon Zoo & Park and Tulane University are both 1 mile away.
