Sea Haven is set on a quiet terraced street only a 2-minute stroll from the promenade and beach in the small, friendly seaside village of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Renovated in 2020, this terraced cottage makes a perfect holiday base for couples, friends or small families. Offering spacious, open plan accommodation downstairs, a double and twin bedroom and a modern family bathroom.
A family-run Italian ice cream parlour dating back to the 1950s is in the centre of the promenade next to the bandstand. A glorious sandy beach is the backdrop for the sweeping bay, ideal for picnics and exploring the rock pools. Nearby Woodhorn Museum holds regular events, and there is coarse fishing available at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, complete with a large lake with swans. The sweeping sands at Druridge Bay are only 3 miles away, and is the start of the Heritage Coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of golden sands and unspoilt villages to explore. You can follow this road all the way up to Holy Island which makes for a great road trip. The historic town of Morpeth is only 9 miles away with plenty of shops and pubs. The town of Amble, with a bustling Sunday market, is a little further afield and offers a working harbour and quaint little beach huts available to hire. The city of Newcastle, with its vibrant night life, theatres, arts and shops, is only 18 miles away, and a bus can be taken nearby straight into the centre of town. The Northumberland National Dark Sky Park is 53 miles away, making a great change from the coast, and you can explore the delights of Hadrianâs Wall all within easy driving distance. Alnwick Castle and Gardens, 25 miles, is easily accessed. Beach 100 yards. Shop and pub 300 yards, restaurant 500 yards.
A lovely holiday home. Had everything you would need. Good base to explore the Northumberland coastline. We ate at the Italian in Newbiggin which was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.
