The room we were in could do with a decorate, or at least a decent clean. There were cobwebs covering the ceiling in the bathroom and around the lights in the bedroom.

Beautiful old house and excellent location. It does need money spending on upgrades though, specially plumbing and in some areas decor. There were several guests who had room changed, we ended up in the room with doggy shower after someone else vacated it - it was better than the room with the bees nest. Staff were brilliant and coped with the various issues well despite being stretched.

We enjoyed every meal in the restaurant at the hotel. The service was excellent. I don’t recall the last time we dined out that the waitress and waiter were so nice. The dishes we tried were so good!!

Gothic style hotel in superb, quiet surroundings

Comfortable stay is a period property in beautiful grounds. Only 2 downsides to spoil the perfection - fire alarm fault at 2300 on 1st night and a tiny kipper fillet at breakfast in the morning otherwise faultless.

Nice hotel in a great location.

We had a nice stay, the staff were nice, the room was a bit tired, comfortable bed, plenty of space in the room, quiet, great view from bedroom. Great location for local sites and Newbury races, plenty of parking. Lovery grounds to walk in, a Golf driving range on site, as well as a Golf course. within the grounds. We would come again, possibly with friends to play Golf in the Morning and go to the Races in the afternoon. We didn't have food at the property so cant comment. Good restaurants nearby and a nice theatre nearby. You could have a great weekend here if you plan it right.
