Weekend Stay
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch and a pretty comfortable stay overall. However, next morning the shower would only pump scalding hot water through (no cold) the water was too hot to take a shower.
In our previous stay at the same hotel, the shower wouldn't work at all - worth testing when you first arrive in case you need a chnage of room
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfy. A good location, lots of places to eat nearby. It’s not far from the metro centre and Newcastle city centre.

Don’t stay in old section unless you have earplugs
Having stayed at this hotel before in the newer section and had great stays so l didn’t hesitate to book again for a nights stay while we were attending a birthday meal.
Sadly once checked in we were told we would be staying in the old original building. The room 211 was clean and tidy but the furniture and bed had seen better days- it’s crying out for a refurbish. The bathroom was spotless but the shower fixings had parts missing the fan in the room made a terrible noise. The walls were thin so could hear our neighbouring rooms.
The mattress was thin and broken - this needs to be changed. There was a constant loud drone noise - must be the ventilation/air con or heating blowers - they kept us awake all night - so along with a lumpy mattress - it was a terrible stay.
Breakfast was good when we were eventually served - not the staffs fault - they need more staff when it’s half full. Portions were very small but apart from very salty bacon it was fresh and cooked well.
Overall unless I can be guaranteed a room in the newer section - I would not use this hotel again. So rooms 201 onwards stayer beware unless you take good earplugs.
Lovely gem just 10 minutes by taxi into Newcastle. All the staff were friendly and helpful from the receptionist to the dining room staff, especially Ann and John who made breakfast a unique experience. We will definitely consider staying there again in the future.

Ok
Pleasant young lady on check in and first morning of breakfast was good. Lovely lady serving us so all seemed well on service until breakfast on the 2nd day.
The woman who was serving us seemed very rude and put out! It was a busy morning but when taking orders and asking what we wanted, I made a joke saying my husband was awkward as he wanted to add extras and she replied saying “yes like the other 12 that have done the same!” The attitude in which this was said was not pleasant. Also when bringing cutlery etc to the table (table wasn’t set up when we arrived) she handled the cutlery by the end we eat with after just having cleared another table and handling dirty pots, not washing her hands before tending to us!
When we asked for more orange juice she literally threw the glass onto the table, resulting in the orange juice going all over the tablecloth.
The rooms were very basic (we had a deluxe room) The cleanliness was poor. There was a peanut on the floor in the bathroom that had been there before we arrived and was still there when we left. The beds dip in the middle. This may also not seem like a major thing to some but when we arrived there was half a toilet roll from the previous guests!
Would we stay again? No! For the money we paid we could have had much nicer elsewhere. We always review where we are staying and reviews seemed good but unfortunately for us it seemed otherwise.
Hotel lift was out of order had to drag my case up 2 flight of stairs with a bad knee. Staff were friendly but hotel was bedrooms were dated the ceiling in my room looks like it had been water damaged and artex all cracked abd discoloured, Bathroom looked newish but sink obviously had issues with the plug as it had been removed leaving broken edges. The shower was terrible water just dribbled out, Carpets were all marked and look very tired. The saving grace was my evening meal this was delicious and staff were very friendly but bedrooms need some TLC
