There is a real bad soft spot in the kitchen. Seemed like it was getting worse as the week progressed. Needs to be repaired ASAP before the floor gives way. Gutters in bad need of cleaning especially on backside of house. Some areas appear to be pulling away from house. In rain water will not drain in gutters. Will overflow and cause boards behind to rot and allow water to leak into walls and house. Need to install curtain over front sliding door. Patio and outdoor shower not easily accessible. Had to but measuring cup. None available in kitchen. The chair in the living room is very dirty. Needs to be cleaned or replaced. It would be nice to have screens on the windows so they can be opened to allow air flow when AC/Heat not needed.
The place was nice and clean. There were no keys at first but property management got us one key. The key only worked on the front door and the rest of the house remained unlocked. The island is peaceful and I believe crime free so not sure it was a bad thing. Could have used a light outside but was a nice stay. I would stay there again.
Charming House in the Heart of Ocracoke That Needs a Little TLC
This is really a charming house that is just a short walk from the heart of Ocracoke. We really enjoyed the screened porch under shade of trees with that wonderful Ocracoke breeze blowing through. We were fortunate that the weather was very fine during our stay, so we were able to open the windows and air out a mold/mildew smell throughout the house that never really went away. Realizing that Hurricane Matthew put most of the island under water last fall, I really hope charming houses like this one are able to put themselves back together quickly!
