Beautiful Loft, Some Inaccuracies

Posted Jul. 30, 2022 on HomeAway
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. I was a solo traveler, so the amount of space was great. It would have also been fine with another guest. The location is very close to Perkins Cove, but the main area of downtown is about a 15-20 walk, this includes the main beach. Fortunately, Ogunquit is a walkable town, so this was fine for me. I appreciated the accessibility of the host, Kim, and the east check-in process. It is co-located with an art gallery and a main residence in the front of the house. You share a front door with the art gallery, so it is not completely separate. The gallery is only open on weekends, though, at least when I was there, so this was not an issue. I did have some issues regarding the accuracy of the listing. First was the TV. It does not have cable or satellite access, as listed. It is internet based and uses a Ruku streaming system/device. This would have been fine, but there were major connectivity issues from the time I got there that I had to troubleshoot with the host. The Roku system would not connect to the property wifi at first, and when it did, the connection was so poor that it would not stream anything. The host was helpful and let me know that I could try to connect via my phone's hotspot. After multiple tries, I got this to work. Luckily, I have unlimited data access, so this was fine. The host also did a "boost" to the property wifi, which allowed for me to connect via that for about at day, but then it was back to a poor connection. I eventually just stopped using the TV and used my laptop for Netflix instead. The second inaccuracy of the listing is the private deck/patio. This is not entirely accurate as it is located outside of the loft at the end of the shared parking lot. You have to go outside of the of the loft to access it. It is also located by a shared driveway, so I would not say that it is private, as anyone could walk into it. The loft was clean and the furniture was nice. However, there is no dishwasher and there was no dish soap, so I had to purchase some and wash the dishes by hand. This was not a big deal, but there was no drying rack, so I has to use paper towels to set them out to dry. There was a rack in the bottom of the sink, which I guess would have worked, but that did not seem to be a good option. There was also only one hand towel for the week. I also think there should be a shade on the other window in the bedroom, as it is bright in there. This will be great with some improvements!

Ogunquit by the Sea

Beautiful loft apartment, picture perfect. If you plan to cook, you'll need spices / cooking essentials. Bring extra hand towels and closet hangers, there was only one for a couple staying a week. Limited storage for clothes, two drawers built into the bed frame. Great weather in June, windows open the entire trip. Noisy in the am due to the commercial business next door. Lovely private patio with lights to relax with wine & a good book after a day at the beach.

Hi Tamela, Glad you enjoyed your stay :) I have placed many more hangers in the closet....thank you for mentioning. Also, on the other side of the bed, there are two additional drawers...so in total, there are four. Also, so sorry you felt the art gallery was noisy. We are only open 11-6, but I will be sure to mention to the staff. Thank you, Kim

Beautiful Cottage Near Perkins Cove

Posted Sep. 4, 2021 on HomeAway
My wife and I along with our three daughters and soon to be son-in-law enjoyed a fantastic week at this clean, comfortable and beautiful cottage. This home offers a family everything one would want in a vacation rental. Location is fantastic with its proximity to Perkins Cove, Marginal Way and Ogunquit Beach along with all the shops, restaurants and views our favorite town away from home has to offer. Second floor master bedroom includes a nice master bathroom as well as an enclosed porch. Other bedrooms are very nice as well. The beautiful kitchen and outdoor patio and grill made our "Cottage Dinner Nights" very enjoyable. Front porch was a great place to start the day with a cup of coffee. As for the pine paneling ... I believe that it helped to set the tone for an informal and relaxing beach vacation. This was our 30th year vacationing in Ogunquit, our favorite town away from home. It was our stay at the Pine Cottage....but hopefully not the last. We look forward to a return visit. And... thank you to the owners for sharing this unique and beautiful property!! Eric, Patty and family.

Great Location

Posted Aug. 15, 2021 on HomeAway
We enjoyed our stay. The house is nicely located between Perkins Cove and downtown Ogunquit. The house was comfortable for 6 adults. The kitchen was beautiful and nicely equipped. The owners were prompt to answer all needs and concerns. The only issue we had was not reading the listing close enough that we had to provide linens and towels. We had a great stay and would book again.

Last VRBO Booking ???

Posted Aug. 1, 2021 on HomeAway
. If you want an example of restoration architecture then perhaps this is place for you. The interior highlights include exposed wood beams, knotty pine walls, and brick fireplaces with hearths and wood stoves. The kitchen is well-equipped and the furnishings are comfortable. But isn’t that to be expected from every vacation rental? So much for the good news. The quirkiness of the place itself, added to that of the owners, lessen the overall appeal of “Pine Lodge.” Foremost is the fact that the master suite is on the 2nd floor and reachable only by a narrow and steep staircase. The tread widths are non-standard and handrails do not even run all the way to the top of the staircase, making the daily ups and downs precarious at best. On a chance meeting with an owner, one among our group was informed as to how displeased the owners were to have made the decision to rent this property at all. Hardly the welcome one would expect after paying for a premium VRBO rental, and perhaps a precursor of the owners’ attempts to place blame for one defect about which we had neither knowledge nor responsibility. Then there’s the “secret passage.” The dining area includes a beautifully-crafted bookcase. Except it’s not! It’s a disguised door that can only be opened from an adjacent art gallery and apartment of the owners. It cannot be locked from the renter’s side, and its existence was only discovered by accident when we were inadvertently given original entry instructions through the gallery itself. Creepy. Finally, we were not told of a two-car parking limit in a timely fashion although our group was arriving from three separate states. In order to meet that limit, as well as accommodate one guest who had to leave two days early due to her work schedule, required a round-trip shuttle to return her to what would have been the “third vehicle” vehicle stored in Massachusetts. Yet for the entire week there was a permanently-unused vehicle stored on site, plus two others belonging to owners during their two days of residence. With any luck, the owners will follow their own stated desire and remove this property from future rental offer. We have rented without incident from VRBO many times in the past, but an experience such as this may cause reconsideration in future.

Just lovely!

Posted Jul. 12, 2021 on HomeAway
We really loved staying in this home. It was open, comfortable and has a beautifully remodeled kitchen with everything you need! The beds were comfortable and the two porches were awesome! Great to have on-site laundry and little need for a car because so much is within walking distance! My only recommendation to the owners is to update your pictures because your home is far more beautiful than the current pictures indicate and be very clear in your description which linens and towels are provided and which are not with a link to the place that guests can rent those items from! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!
