Chouette ville de Olafsvik, mais l'hĂŽtel est vraiment impersonnel au possible. C'est un self-checkin comme tous les autres hotels d'Islande. et c'est franchement triste. De nombreux groupes de chinois...
The reception and check-in was complicated and awfull. When we finally arrived to the room it was dirty. We tried to change room and no one ever answer to the phone that you supposed to call when any problem (cause thereâs no one in the hotel) thanks to the two staff people who arrived by chance and finally helped us with the room. The bed are awfull, no comfort at all, same for pillow. The room smell bad too.
be carefull and be ready : it is an hotel without reception, so be sure that you check your mails (and spams folder !) to be sure to have the room access code that is sent one week before. the hotel is conveniently located to visit the snaefells area. there is no kettle in the room but hot water is available in the ground floor.
Positiv:
Sauberes, ĂŒberdurchschnittlich grosses Zimmer
Negativ:
Keine Rezeption
Great location across street from only restaurant in Olafsvik, clean basic room, great breakfast with fruit, yogurt, cereal, sweets, oatmeal, meats, cheese, etc
Well, there was no staff at all. so make sure you have a phone to call the local number provided to you. one of the phone number they send you on the email will have a wrong phone number on it. (missing a number).
the rooms are quiet small but seems to be a normal for the area.
Do not like the idea of being sent a code for access. We never received any code. Hotel told us they always send out codes, but Hotels.co often do not pass them on to guests. Also sending a code by email is pointless when you are out in the hills and no Wi-Fi coverage. Tried telephoning the hotel, to receive a message try later. Really not helpful. Transpires they do not answer phone till after 1600. Would have been helpful to know that.
Only downside I didnât get room number and code via email. Had to go to property to get info and hope someone was there. There was. He was very helpful.

Points faibles : Service et personnel
Liked the location of the property and it was convenient. However booking a Mountain View and got the street view and they refused to change the room. Very poor customer service. Expedia let me know in this aspect too. They didnât fix it, neither did they refund the money.
Our stay at the North Star was mostly positive. The room was large, very clean and comfortable. However, the shower in the bathroom is only enclosed by a shower curtain and requires you to squeegee the walls and floor off. An example of Scandinavian minimalism. The check in process is very nerve-racking. There is no attendant in the building, and the phone only calls to an answering machine that answered in Icelandic. Luckily, there was a Grayline tour guide checking in at the same time as we were and she was able to navigate the phone system and connect us with someone. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise that was added after our reservation and the staff at breakfast were helpful. You have to be careful on the elevator since it didnât match up with the floor. The location was very convenient to the national park and Grundarfjordur. In Olafsvik, there is a gorgeous waterfall within walking distance and you can take a whale watch. There is also a good restaurant right across the street.
