I adored my little cottage at Rancho Grande! It was a perfect sanctuary from the world after a day of touring, and the staff are extremely kind, courteous and professional. If you're staying in Pana I'd highly recommend staying here.

The property is very minimally staffed. The rooms were filthy and extremely outdated. Spiderwebs and spiders in the room as well as an ant problem. Also, dust all over the room and property. The pool is very small and there is absolutely no views of the volcano or surrounding area. Sleep is minimal due to the loud noises surround the area and beds are not comfortable. Showers are old and dirty. The breakfast was okay but only one option for eating. Would not return.

Mad! We are so upset. Two nights cost us almost $550 cad. The 1st room was so moldy it knocked you over when you walked in. They gave us another room that was better but the road noise was crazy! The bathroom shower was RV size and the best part… no hot water. There are better choices out there, don’t be fooled by the photos. The worst. The decor was early 1970s which is okay. The inn is on the main road and it’s heavy traffic all the time.

We loved this property! The staff was super helpful as we struggled with our Spanish, the room and grounds were spotless! The only negative is that it’s not a quiet property- if you’re a light sleeper you will hear the dogs barking nearby and the street traffic. But this was beyond the property’s control so we’re giving it 5 stars!

No hot water was hard! Otherwise nice hotel. Our first night however, they gave us a less than desirable room ( I think they gave our reserved room away to someone else so then they put us in a low quality room). They did give us better rooms on the second and third night.

The front desk man that attended us informed us that he only had two bedrooms with one queen bed each. I informed him we booked two bedrooms with two beds each. He insisted that that’s all he had. After a few moments of silence. He said he did have the two bedrooms with two beds available. Once he gave us the keys and we went to the rooms we noticed that the rooms did not have a chimney. We asked regarding this and he informed us that he had already booked those to other people. He said that your not guaranteed the room that you book online. The room was ok. The hot water in the shower would come every 5mins and it would only last about half a min. The street that the hotel comes out of is very busy with cars and motorcycles. This street is scary to walk through at night because the cars and motorcycles pass by fast. The street before this is the Main Street for walking, which is some blocks away.

Giving this place a 1.5 star. Looks nice from the outside but is very dirty / mildew covered inside the rooms. Staff was not great. Unfriendly and very slow. One of the reasons we booked this place was for the complimentary breakfast included every morning. We went by our first morning after being told the night before they open at 8am (we arrived around 8:10am), they were not open and told us it would be 20 more minutes. After they opened they said it would be another 30 minutes. So they wouldn’t start serving until 9am. We got breakfast elsewhere. The next day we came back, we weren’t greeted until 20 minutes of sitting down. We finally got our coffee and juice. No matter the amounts of muchas gracias .. etc we would say, they would not respond. 40 min after sitting down, we got pancakes (they don’t ask what you want, they’ll just bring it). Then 50 min after sitting down, we were brought out bread and eggs. Keep in mind we were 1 of 3 tables there. The whole experience from the unfriendly check in til the last day was not good, let alone having to sleep in a moldy room. We would not recommend this place to anyone.

The man at the front desk was rude during all our stay. We couldn’t ask any questions because his answer was very rude. Also only until the last night we could have some wood for the fireplace and he wanted to charged us with Q75 and the price was Q25. The other guy, the young one, was a little bit more respectful.
