Ocean view was nice. The property is showing signs of age and poor upkeep. Rooms were not that clean and staff we dealt with were not very professional in customer service or attire .

Be cautious about staying here!!! The staff is not very friendly at all. I called before making reservations to make sure there were private balconies because this is one of the most important things. My son has Asperger‘s. He doesn’t like being around many people but he loves sitting and just watching the ocean. We get there there are not private balconies at the hotel. Hotel guest can only use 1 of the 2 pools and the breakfast is not free, not even coffee. Ice isn’t even free here! My mom had a bad fall there and the staff wouldn’t even call for an ambulance or give me the address they said use my cell. Be careful! I couldn’t even walk out after dark without people whistling and yelling at me. Went out for a charger after dark and never felt so unsafe. Parking lot is dark and you have to walk down a dark street if you’re not in a parking spot by noon!!! Never again! And of course a manager was never available! If you’re on the 1st floor you can’t see the ocean because of the sand dunes, 2nd floor palm trees block your view! The Rusty Anchor was never open. The pool was decent but trash left everywhere from the day before. No housekeeping. However we did see the housecleaning crew on the floors cleaning check out rooms and they were nice!! They were the only ones. Front desks act like your a burden to even check in. Oh and check in can be anywhere from 4pm till midnight! Front desk always says the manager is out.

Very disappointed, nothing like the pictures online. Waited over 2 1/2 hours to check in. Plug ins did not work, poor lighting, outdated, roaches, air conditioning was not working due to non maintenance. My husband cleaned them. Staff was not concerned, stated it was Expedia’s problem. They did not help at all. Only had access to 2 pools and 1 was closed 2 days. It was overcrowded. No balcony like the pictures. Beds were not Queen , more like a full size. There was no complementary breakfast either.
We saw several of these.
Plugs wouldn’t stay in the wall. FIRE HAZARD / ELECTRICAL HAZARD
The filters my husband had to clean. Maintenance showed up 2 days into our stay.
2 lines at check in. The longer line was to check in and get temp parking pass, the second line was for actual check in .. if you were called or texted when your room was ready. Website doesn’t reflect check in time being 6pm.

The actual stay was fine. However, we arrived at 2 to see about early check-in and was told no check in til 6. I explained my confirmation said 4 was check in time. Was told that during busy summer season, it's 6. Ok, whatever. They did give us a temp parking pass so we were able to park and spend the day on the beach. When we came back at 6, the lobby was so full of people we couldn't get through because they didn't start checking anyone in til 6pm. It was after 9pm before we finally had a room.

Terrible checkin

The only problem we had was checkin, they only let you checkin at 6 pm in june and july, crazy, busiest time of the year having everyone checkin at the same just causes long lines of frustration and causing tempers to flare, it would work out much better in my opinion to check people in on arrival if their room is ready .

Hotel stay

This hotel came highly recommended. I will never go to this hotel again. I did an early check in around 1pm. The clerks at the desk said "they would give me a call as soon as our room was ready, as soon as they called, we would be able to come to the front of desk and get our keys. We could use the pool, beach or whatever while waiting." No access to changing rooms, showers, etc. So we had to go find things to do while waiting. We had reservations at 8:30 pm across town. Still no phone call, so we decided to go back to hotel and see what was going on. We got back to hotel around 5-ish and there were 2 long, long lines of people waiting to get rooms. We waited in line over 1 and 45 minutes just to get our keys. Oh and for our troubles, checkout time was extended to11 am. We barely had time to get our things in our rooms and leave to make our 8:30 appointment. We didnt even get to check out restaurants, bars, pools, etc. Not a happy customer. No worries, next time we will go back to our favorite hotel which is Sandpiper Beach Resorts. And have a much smoother check in.

Check in process terrible…

Booked our room at 1pm, the website stated check in would be 4 pm and encouraged pre check in. When arrived for pre check in staff stated the check in time would be 6pm. We were able to go to the beach until then, when we arrived back at 6 pm for our room the lobby was full of more than 100 people to check in and get keys. We waited in line for an hour and was not even half way through the line. We decided to leave and eat dinner and returned at 8:45pm and there was still a long line to get keys. My reservation was non refundable and we were only able to have our room from 9pm to 4 am due to an early fishing reservation. Poor planning on the management and of course no one was available to resolve any issues.

This hotel is in a good location and the price was decent. The worst part about this hotel is the check-in process. We got here the day of at 12 o’clock and pre-registered. We had to wait in an extremely long line for about an hour in our room was not ready until after 8 o’clock.. i’ve never had a worse experience, checking into a hotel. For the check-in nightmare alone, I will never stay at this hotel again.

This was the worst stay weve ever had. We were promised check in at 4pm, stood in line over two hours to check in. I paid extra to not have an inland view we wanted a beach view. No view. Mold in the bathroom. I have never posted a review before as we have stayed here multiple times in the last 15 years but wouldnt ever stat here again after this trip. The stole money from mutiple people. You should refund our money.

We preregistered at noon and was told I would get a phone call when the room was ready. Check in is at 6PM. By 6:30, no one had called me. I tried calling the hotel and no one would answer. I walked to the lobby to see 2 very long lines. I called again and was told I had to get in the line to receive my room key. I waited in line for about an hour without the line moving much. I had 3 very exhausted young children and since it was getting late, I finally left and booked another hotel at 8PM so we could get some rest. I didn’t even get to check into the boardwalk as it would’ve been very late had I waited in line until it was my turn. It was frustrating! Expedia told me they would request a cancellation for me as the boardwalk would not since I used a 3rd party. Our stay was for the 28-30. I called the boardwalk the next day to check on the status of my refund. They told me Expedia would have to call on my behalf. Well Trudy, the assistant manager literally hung up on the agent from Expedia. He told me he had never dealt with anyone so rude in a managerial position! I then called and was also hung up on. If check out is at 10PM and the rooms are not cleaned and prepared for new guests by 6PM, something is wrong. We sat in the parking lot for a while watching the staff go in and out of rooms with no keys to get in, more than one going into each room, goofing off or walking out and not going back in for a long time. I do not recommend this place and I never even got to check in!

Awful. No check ins till 6pm (that was never communicated) the pool advertised was not the pool at the hotel. They used a picture of the pool next door at the resort. Staff was rude. I’ve requested a refund and Expedia told me that the hotel would have to honor it when Expedia catfished me into staying with a 4pm check in and a salt water infinity pool. Shame on both Expedia and Boardwalk Beach Hotel. Scamming people out of a lot of money.
