The Local at University Shadows is a newly remodeled modern condo in heart of Tempe. Located right of 101 and 202 Freeways, 5 min to Cubs Stadium, 10 min drive to the airport and Old Town Scottsdale, 5 min drive to Mesa Riverview, Tempe MarketPlace, Tempe Town Lake, ASU and Mill Avenue.

Very quiet, private neighborhood in the center if everything, nests a gated 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom home. BEWARE: SCAM!

This property is a scam and is listed multiple times. We booked this property a month in advance and were unable to contact the owner until after our designated check-in time had passed. We were told by the owner the property was under renovation and not supposed to be listed. Based on other reviews (that were not posted at the time we booked) this has been an ongoing issue for at least 3 other customers, with no repercussions. VRBO customer support has been mostly difficult to work with, forcing us to self-book a last minute hotel, but has thus far refunded our original payment. Awaiting full reimbursement, as promised.

Never saw the property! Host did not send check in info ever

No communication from host. I called him two days before arrival, he said he would send check in code, didn’t happen. Wanted me to change my plans and feel sorry for him because his property wasn’t ready. My sisters and I had to rent a hotel room instead!!

Worst experience

First and foremost do not book this place. You will lose out on your money and then pay extra on hotels.I didn’t get to stay at this place due to the host “not getting a notification”. I had messaged him right after booking in regards of the pet fee and no pets being allowed which I never got response to. Got to the place and in the front it was littered with miscellaneous stuff. Called him and he said he didn’t know it was booked quickly hung up. I called vrbo to see how they could resolve the situation they ended up suggesting that I stay at a hotel and they would reimburse me but that has yet to be the case. Overall horrible experience with host and vrbo

This is a scam property!

I do NOT reccomend this property/owner! He canceled on us just as our plane landed and left us stranded to find lodging on our own. He has not refunded our money and refuses to answer my calls after he scammed us out of $450!!!!

I have nothing to say about the property itself. The reservation was cancelled by the owner the day before I was supposed to arrive, therefore I never saw the rental unit. It was unclear why the rental was cancelled. If there was an emergency I hope everything is OK. VRBO staff were incredibly helpful in making alternate arrangements at the last second.

Short Stay

Had a stay in the area for a family function. Had marked on the reservation about bringing my well trained dogs. Approximately 24 hours after checkin, I was contacted by the host that dogs were not on my reservation, and that additional charges would be incurred. Fortunately to my knowledge that did not happen. Good complex with close proximity to the pool and hot tub.

Enjoyed my stay. Close to many stores and restaurants. Great tvs in living room and master bedroom. Very clean when I checked in. Aaron was very nice and accommodating if I needed anything. I would rent again. Thanks Aaron

Bring daughter back to ASU For her second year.

Was a nice place and location was nice for travel back and forth to ASU. Was kind of a walk to unload the car. The thermostat had a mind of its own. Would adjust itself to above 80. Finally kind of figured out the thermostat. Some of the kitchen towels were stained. Some of the dishes were dirty. Everything worked in the unit and it was a place to stay. Would stay there again.

Az trip!

My boyfriend and i came to AZ for wedding as we stayed here for the week, it was wonderful. Close to everything which was really nice & owner very accommodating to us, had everything we needed, & very clean. Cute spot to stay
