Scuderie Fondi - Villa a few steps from the sea

Built in the mid '800, the building originally housed the stables of the adjacent Villa de Sangro Fondi. The building, still owned by the de Sangro Fondi family, has recently been completely renovated.

Furnished with original furniture and prints, it still retains the charm of the period house, while being equipped with all modern comforts.

The large garden, typical "fondo Sorrentino" with large citrus groves, walnut trees, ornamental plants and equipped patio, frame this historic residence and allow the parking of 2-3 cars.

The property is conveniently located in the historic center of Piano di Sorrento. Just 50 meters from the villa is the elevator that leads down to the characteristic village of Marina di Cassano, home to typical restaurants, bathing establishments and a base for tourist boat trips, as well as a place of embarkation for Capri.

At 700 meters is the Circumvesuviana train station, with which it is possible to reach the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as the city of Naples.

The location of this beautiful villa is ideal with easy access to the train and a walking-friendly city. The property is gated, private and well maintained with all amenities we needed, including a well stocked kitchen where we enjoyed family meals together. A treat was inviting Rosa to cook for us which was welcome after a long day of travel! The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and updated, and the seating areas are inviting for relaxing conversation. The property was as advertised and we would highly recommend it, especially when traveling with a group.

Fantastic villa, plenty of space for 12 adults, 1 baby, the 2 kitchens and dining areas were a bonus. Bedrooms large, bathrooms were good too, 1 minute walk to lift down to beach. 10 minute walk to station, 3 minute walk to supermarket, 2 minute walk to a cafe/bar overlooking the sea. Main town of Piano Di Sorrento 15 minute walk away with some great places to eat. The villa has the option of having a chef cook a 3 course meal - you MUST hire Rosa as her food is divine and is great value. She uses produce from her garden so everything is made fresh from scratch and is absolutely divine. We engaged her twice!

To sum our stay up in one word it was - PERFECT! The house is wonderful and very well equipped! Valentino (house manager) was so helpful before and during our stay. One of the many highlights was Rosa! She cooked for us twice and it was FANTASTIC! She is a great cook and a great person - we highly recommend her!!!
Our children surprised us with a wedding vow renewal for our 50 anniversary. The grounds of the villa was the perfect spot!

Family Trip To Italy 2025

Really enjoyed staying here with our family of 9. 7 adults and two kids ages 7 and 11. Beds were king size and one bedroom had twin beds. Beautiful garden with oranges and lemons. The kids made fresh squeezed orange juice from the garden with the electric juicer in the kitchen. Dining table upstairs was large enough for all of us. It was exciting to stay in such an old landmark. Let me just say 'Rosa' the chef was such a nice addition to have after being out and touring all day to come back home and have a meal ready for you so all we had to do was relax and enjoy our evening. Rosa made everyone feel like family. She used fresh vegetables from her garden and made a special dessert with every meal. We did three dinners and one breakfast with her (additional cost from home). We had the following dinners:1) roast chicken, potatoes, pasta with cheese and pepper sauce, salad, bread and the kids had pasta and chicken bites and we all had tiramisu for dessert2) pizza and for dessert we had Nutella pizza3) lasagna, salad, bread, and we had chocolate torte (caprese)all meals included, wine, water, sodaWe did one breakfast as well bacon, eggs, fresh fruit, bread, pastries, juice, coffee, waterInstead of booking pizza making tour, we decided to let Rosa do a pizza making demonstration with the kids and they loved it. This was so much more personal and we did not have to go out after a long day of touring.I would highly recommend booking Rosa. Come hungry is all I can say!

Sorrento Trip

The communication from the host Valentino was exceptional. We did an amazing dinner inside with Ross one night which was also very special. House is very spacious and clean. If I had any feedback that was all negative the aerial photo of the property led me to believe there was maybe a vista of the ocean from the house and there is not. Not the end of the world just a little bit confusing. Also, piano de Sorrento is a bit away from Sorrento proper so it required repeated Taxi rides to Sorrento. You could take the train which would be much more cost-effective but a little bit cumbersome. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

Great place to stay!

We really enjoyed the location, property and grounds. Pretty cool to stay in a place from the 800s. We opted for to have dinner made for us at home too. Great selection of options and it was nice to have someone cook and clean up for us at our place. Some of the furnishings a re a little worn but it adds to the charm. Highly recommend for a large group.

The photos and descriptions don't do Scuderie Fondi justice. It was so charming and peaceful and outside of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento proper. Valentino (the manager) and Rosa (the cooking grandma) were so incredibly welcoming and made us feel like family. Definitely have Rosa cook a meal for you. If you have never had your own Italian grandma, Rosa is more than willing to fill that unfortunate void for you! We would love to go back and spend a month or two there sometime - except we'll have to pack a second wardrobe that is a size bigger because it's impossible not to indulge on all of the incredible food!

Wonderful!

This property is a lovely, private villa in Piano di Sorrento. The train station is about a 10 min walk and the waterfront/beach/marina are a quick elevator ride or 10 min walk away. Communication with Riccardo (via VRBO) and Valentino (via WhatsApp) was easy. Valentino answered many questions, greeted us when we arrived, and arranged a ride to the Naples airport at the end of our stay. The property is clean, well-stocked (two kitchens!) and the air conditioning works great. Plenty of space for our group of 9. One of the highlights was having dinner cooked by Rosa one night. She had come when we arrived with drinks and a delicious apple cake and is available for private meals. We picked the menu and she came and cooked-it was delicious and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend! There are ferry options out of Piano di Sorrento to visit Capri, Amalfi and Positano. Times are limited, so you can take the train to Sorrento for more options. Pompeii is also an easy train ride away. Thank you for a great stay!

Amazing Sorrento Area Stay!

We had 12 people, and this was a great fit for us! Valentino and Rosa were great, and the location was in an area ‘off the touristy Sorrento area’ which was nice and quiet and still a great marina/beach area to hang out at. We had such an amazing time, and it was a quick walk up to the train station to take a 5-min ride (1.5€ ea) to get into Sorrento. Recommend 100%!

Our Family Italian trip

It was wonderful. We all arrived at different times of the day. Valentino was so helpful in getting us situated. We, 13 of us, settled into our rooms suited to each pair. Our 21 year old twin grandgirls had to sleep on a pull out couch and their bathroom was off the kitchen near their room. We heard no complaints. We loved Piano. Taking the elevator down to the beach or walking into town was a delight. It was not crowded like Sorrento. We all went into Sorrento a few times, to Naples and Pompeii, hiked the Path of God with a guide and took a wonderful boat ride to Capri for a 7 hour experience. The villa was all that it said it was. Rosa cooked us a marvelous dinner one night and had a snack and wine when we arrived. This is a special place.🇼đŸ‡č❀

This property was great for our large family. More than enough room to spread out. The welcome from Rosa with cold water, wine, and homemade apple cake was very appreciated after a long day of travel. They were more than helpful arranging transportation. I would highly recommend for a large group.

A beautiful stay outside of Sorrento

If you are looking for a property outside of Sorrento with incredible views- this is your place. The rooms were beautifully decorated with some of the most incredible pieces. I loved the simplicity of the hanging art and the large furniture pieces that outfitted each room. The bathrooms have large showers and plenty of room. The space was immaculately clean and had everything you needed including a washer and great hanging racks outside. The fruits trees on the property were a huge bonus!!! Piano di Sorrento is just outside of Sorrento and Valentino provided us a great name of a taxi driver that helped us during our entire stay! A few steps from the property are delicious cafes and views of the water. The sunsets were spectacular! We loved the Monday morning market just outside the home gates! It was a highlight of the trip. Lastly- if you stay at this property, we HIGHLY recommend using chef Rosa to cook a few meals after long days along the coast. She welcomes you with huge open arms are creates the best meals- most of it comes fresh from her own garden! She gets 5 stars!!! We loved the property and recommend it for your next Sorrento holiday!

Wow! Perfect Vacation Home

We spent a week at Scuderie Fondi and the stay was perfect. The house is beautiful and spacious. It's interesting history with the museum and park across the street is fascinating. The five bedrooms are lovely and really big. Our group of eight included three couples and two unmarried adult children. Everything you need is conveniently close to the house. It is also a great launching location to the sites on the Amalfi and Sorrento area. Riccardo is a gracious host and his manager Valentino was terrific. He was very accessible and helpful in every way. If you go to Pompei and or Herculeum, ask him how to contact Pina who was our tour guide. She was terrific and so helpful to us with logistics. The final gift of this place is Rosa who prepared several incredible meals for us. She is lovely, friendly and an incredible cook. To have her provide us with dinner on the day we all traveled to that wonderul house was the best! Absolute great vacation house.

Fantastic Holiday at Scudiere Fond

Scudiere Fondi was just as promised in the listing and an oasis for our family holiday with 3 generations. Super convenient location near the harbour, restaurants, town, the Monday market and the train station made it easy for us to not rent a car and allow family members to come and go as they pleased. Great jump off location to access the whole area from Naples to Amalfi in day trips without being in the fray of highly visited areas. The beautiful villa grounds with lemons, very sweet and juicy oranges and figs were a treat to be in and eat from. The house is well kept and versatile for large groups, eating in or out, plenty of space to spread out. Bedrooms all have beautiful light and views. Valentino the host, was incredibly helpful answering questions about the area, helping to make arrangements for day trips (ferries, boats, cars and cheese factory tour) and attentive to any needs at the property. Rosa who cooked 2 dinners for us was delightful, entertaining and an excellent cook She accommodated our dietary needs and sourced the most delicious zucchini and potatoes from her garden as well as incredibly delicious local specialty yellow skinned chicken. She also made a delicious chocolate almond birthday cake to help celebrate a birthday. A terrific spot for a family holiday.

This is the place to stay! Walking distance to marina and train station. We hired Rosa for two nights and her food was amazing. Valentino checked us in and was extremely helpful. The lemons and oranges on property were delicious. Villa accommodated 8 adults and 1 toddler and we had plenty of space. Can’t wait to return!

Great week in the Sorrento area

Very spacious, unique property walking distance from many amenities. Our group had 10 people for part of the week we spent in the property and there were plenty of beds and bathrooms to accommodate everyone. Valentino spoke English very well and communicated proactively in the days leading up and during our stay. We were also greeted with a snack prepared by Rosa, who we also hired to prepare two exceptional dinners for us during the week. This gated, private property with a lot of character sits amidst an orange and lemon grove. It's close to the marina and the train station in Piano di Sorrento. Sorrento, itself, is easily accessible either by train or by foot. This is a property that should be considered for larger groups looking for a comfortable house in the area.

A Perfect Vacation

We have been traveling with our children, and now grandchildren, for many years. Our ages for the ten of us range from 83 to 12 and this villa was perfect for all of us. It is quite sizeable with two kitchens, several gathering spaces and large bedrooms and baths. But the piece de resistance is its location near the water with a large and very peaceful garden. We knew that Sorento itself might be overcrowded, and it was, but the large garden was always a refuge at the end of a busy day. Our children walked into Sorrento from the house while my husband and I walked or took the elevator down the cliff to find a snack or a swim. Mornings we walked out the front gate and turned the corner to have coffee and a croissant along the terrace above the sea. The house is very well stocked with everything one could possibly need and more. However, just up the street is a small supermarket. Check in was easy peasy. Valentino was onsite to let us in along with Rosa, who can be your cook if you choose. She had the kitchen table laid out with wine, water and a homemade apple cake. In the fridge was more wine and water! Valentino was always nearby and is available should anything be needed--which it never was. He did arrange a boat around the bay for our children and made excellent recommendations for dinner and pastries! All in all, this was one of the best vacation rentals we have ever stayed in--Thank you Ricardo, Valentino and Rosa.

Beautiful House

If you are looking for a beautiful house, near the water (with fantastic sunset views) then look no farther. This house is away from the crowds, there’s a grocery store right down the block and the property manager lives next door and is always there to help. We were 3 couples and had plenty of room and privacy. The front garden is magnificent and you can sit amongst the citrus trees and truly relax. Would highly recommend this property! There’s also plenty of room for a vehicle on property should you have one.

Amazing experience! Highly recommend

We had a group of 6 adults traveling from the US to Rome, Florence and Piano di Sorrento in the last week of September. Of all 3 rentals we stayed in Italy, this was by far the most beautiful place and experience! Beautiful home, beautiful garden, perfect location so close to the water and the train, and the villa manager, Valentino, was amazing! We stayed for 4 nights and had no problems. We were greeted by Valentino and Rosa who had prepared a cake and had an amazing bottle of wine to welcome us. We had dinner prepared for us by Rosa one evening. It was one of the best meals we had our whole trip! Valentino helped us by arranging a boat tour to Capri, gave us suggestions for restaurants and helped arrange a ride to Naples for some of us. He was very polite and checked on us everyday to make sure everything was going well. There are no words to explain how well he worked with and helped us. I would recommend this villa to everyone! 5+ stars!!

Peaceful Retreat

This property is exactly as advertised, but better. Beautiful courtyard/gardens, private entrance, plenty of space to spread out and relax. Valentino met us on site and showed us around the property upon arrival. He responded right away to any of our messages, and helped arrange a private driver to take us back to Naples. We were also greeted by Rosa with a delicious dessert and wine upon arrival. The night she came and cooked dinner was a special treat and very delicious. I highly recommend booking this property.

Highly recommend

Stayed here with 6 friends over a long weekend as we had a wedding in sorrento old town. We were welcomed by Valentino who helped us check in early and arranged a taxi for us from the airport which was so helpful. The property is stunning - very traditional but with modern appliances like great air conditioning, multiple fridges and a dishwasher. We were greeted on arrival with a delicious cake cooked for us and we arranged for the same lady to cook us a wonderful dinner on our last night in the house. Really stunning property in a great location - highly recommend!!
