We stayed in a Junior suite that was supposed to be on the beach, the room was large but very outdated. Outlets did not work, the tv worked one night, the ceiling in the bathroom looked like it had water damage. The resort is massive, so there is a lot to see and do. The food was okay, not amazing but not terrible. The shows each night were great for everyone

Great experience from start to finish! Barcelo Bavaro is a big and beautiful resort, with friendly staff; however, a lot of the staff only speak Spanish, which can make simple questions and requests a bit time consuming. I would recommend brushing up on some basic Spanish before your trip! There is always entertainment and activities happening by the pools and on the beach. They have a beautiful theatre where there is a show every night. We saw the circus show and it was incredible! They also have a variety of excisions you can sign up for, for an additional fee. During our stay, we did a dune buggy and cave swim excursion, as well as the Seaquarium excursion, which was definitely the best one! Will definitely return to the resort in the future!

It was exceptionally clean and organized and even though it was very large it was easy to get around and never felt overcrowded. The only negative comments I have is as Americans it was very hard to communicate. Very few spoke any English. And we were turned away from the Italian restaurant because long pants were required.

My boyfriend and I just stayed at this resort last week. When we arrived, check in was smooth and prompt. We arrived to our room and it was so clean we were able to get dinner reservations that night to one of the restaurants. However, be wary of the restaurants in the resort. The service is absolutely terrible. These restaurant workers need more training on the menu and how to be a server!!!! I asked my server 3 times for water and reminded her of the glass of wine I had ordered (apps were out already) she says ok and does not come back. I end up getting up and walking to the nearest bar for waters and the glass of wine. The servers NEED training. For a place that says 5 star resort I should not be getting up to get drinks that I ordered when we first sat down. Then we tried the Mexican restaurant. We confirm order with our server. Only one skirt steak comes out when we ordered 2. I’m sitting there waiting to eat dinner with my bf on our last night. Overall, restaurant service in the resort is AWFUL. Not to mention my last night I became violently sick vomiting and diarrhea and the resort was sold out of pepto bismol. That’s a telling sign. Service and food handling need attention.
