Clean , great staff! Good food, nice view, comfortable bed! However, I still give 8/10. They need to get better on the drinks, especially pina colada, that tasted like soap. Other resorts next to them make better drinks. Also they need to get better wine as the house wine.

Good hotel. Bartenders at pool (Carlos and Ashly) excellent. Daniel at the piano bar is the best, also Gladys at the Siwichi is great. Beach bar awful, worst bartenders of the hotel in that area. Thalassa food is good, but we recommend to walk to the Catalonia Bavaro and visit Ayami restaurant, amazing.

The staff was amazing, this was a trip for anniversary and first time in the Dominican, we had a wonderful time, lobby and amenities were great. With the exception of a broken interior door handle the room was to our standard. We definitely visit again

As a native Spanish speaker, I will say this hotel had such rude staff and poor communication between staff. Usually speaking the language gets you better treatment, that wasn’t the case during my stay. The staff on the family side was much more helpful and friendlier.

Stay well away from this place. The beach is more like a lake or swamp. The sand is hard and brown. The pool area is a joke, you have to wake up at 5am to get a pool bed. Staff plays obvious favourites with timeshare holders. No 24hr bar. You have to wait until 10am to get a Bloody Mary or mimosa poolside. The bed in your room will be a pit full of spikes. I could go on and on. However, there are so many bad things; I’ll focus on the down right nasty! Duck, geese, egrets (large pelican like birds) They hang out by the only snack bar that’s open late right by the main pool. They poop all over the pool deck and restaurant. They then jump in the poop and on top of tables and chairs. Omg the amount of people sick is astronomical; my friend included. Two days lost in the bathroom for unknown food-borne illness. The trip starts with a con-job the concierge who is supposed to be in charge of your comfort, knowledge of the property, and safety; they are really just timeshare salespeople. They pray on the weakest most timid guests and hammer them into $30k timeshares that you can buy for $1000 if you negotiate. Many reported wasting 2-3 hours with these yahoos … we had to run away from ours he was calling our room waking us up to make his pitch on the second day…. Good thing we overheard what happened to another couple and ran for the hills. You too should run and not walk; as far away from Catalonia as possible!

The initial room - 4230, was in horrible condition. Concerns were brought up multiple times to staff. They seemed unbothered and maintenance would do the bare minimum to rectify issues. Until videos and pictures were brought forward of the issues in the room to the Front Desk Manager, they recrified by moving us to a Premium room. The premium rooms are renovated rooms with updated amenities and decor. Dont fall for the ratings of this resort on the Adult side. If you arent paying top dollar for the top rooms, the resort treats you as a lesser person. Food is sub par but booking for seatings is horrendous. There are never any availability. We booked all our meals first day and found that none of the Adult side restaurants had availability over a 7 day period. So, when choosing the Adult side with no availability in the restaurants you then are eating at the restaurants or buffets on the main resort. The beach area - best I have been at. Minus the daily sea weed wash, the staff and workers are very attentive in cleaning. Plenty of seating with lots of palm trees or umbrellas for shade. Beach is small but very pleasant. Water is very shallow with multiple sand bars and lush sea grass. This was both positive and negative to the daily swims. The Snack Truck was a huge hit! Servers are many on the beach and very attentive. Pools are great but make sure you are early in the morning to snag a seat.
