As others have said, the property is not new, but the up keep is very good. There was a lot of construction going on, while this is good, there was more noise than normal but not too bad. The main disappointment was the food. While there was an abundance, the quality in the restaurants was at best middle of the road. We had about the worst experience ever one night, the staff responded well and tried to make things right, actually over compensating. The restaurants were not all open and the private excellence club restaurant was never open. Loved the resort and the beach, but the food would limit another visit. If that’s not your thing or you don’t care, the drinks are plentiful, the views are amazing, the resort is relaxing, the spa was fabulous….

Excellence Punta Cana is fantastic if you want a relaxing experience. The nightlife is not that wild party type but is more easygoing. Highly recommend joining the excellence club. Very nice perks. We will be back

My wife and I had a fantastic honeymoon at Excellence Punta Cana. The property, beach, and pool areas were incredible. The entire resort was very clean and workers are everywhere to provide great service. We’re big pool people and that was where we spent the majority of our days. The pool was never crowded and always relaxing. The beach was nice, however we never tried to get in the water. During our mid October stay the weather was consistently mid 80s. We were nervous as the forecast showed clouds and rain. With that said the rain would come and go very quickly and the couple of days it did rain was actually welcome as it helped ease the humidity. No issues with daily housekeeping and the room and bar was constantly restocked. For food, overall I would say it was good, while noting it is still resort food. I would agree with the general consensus on the best locations. Spice and Sports Bar were definitely the most underwhelming of the options, and probably just bad. Agave, the Grill, and Chez all stood out as the best of the bunch, however don’t expect these to rival your favorite local restaurants. While we didn’t partake in any excursion we got a couples massage at the spa which is as good of a massage experience as I’ve had. In summary, EPC made for an incredible week long honeymoon and will be looking into the Excellence brand going forward.
