In fairness we actually didn’t stay at the property as the host failed to provide access to the property and remained uncontactable on the day of check-in. Obviously this created unnecessary stress for my family of 8 adults and 1 child as we sought to find alternative accommodation for the 3 nights of our intended stay in Queenstown. Fortunately, the VRBO care policy ensured that we received an immediate refund and covered the increase in cost for alternative accommodation which we were eventually able to secure after a considerable search. Whilst the host eventually responded the next day and offered for us to stay free of charge, we had already committed one night accomodation at our hotel and would have incurred cancellation fees for the remaining nights. We were also settled as a family and did not want further disruption to our holiday. To say we were disappointed really is an understatement. As a host if you are intending to be out of the country during a rental period, for goodness sake organise a local contact, and make sure the phone number you have listed is reachable.
