There's a restaurant on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. An airport shuttle (available 24 hours) is available for a fee. A terrace, an arcade/game room, and tour/ticket assistance are also featured at Viajero Quito Hostel.
Very nice hostel. Great staff, very clean and comfortable. Wi-Fi was very slow but not uncommon from other places I've stayed. Hot showers with lots of pressure was very nice too.
Most of it was top quality! The only thing is that it can be quite noisy from music later in the evening from the bar and early in the morning from the restaurant.
Inside of Viajero is lovely. They have a great courtyard, bar, restaurant, etc. My room was very spacious and comfortable. I had a great stay.
I was the victim of an attempted mugging immediately outside of the hostel. It was 7:30pm on a Friday and I was about 10 steps away from the door when a man grabbed me and tried to take my phone. I fought him away but I strongly suspect I was targeted for having stayed at Viajero. I was not told to be cautious or warned at all when I checked in and from talking to other guests I think they really need to be doing that!
So, we were fully aware that Quito had power black outs. Our other accommodations told us times, patterns, things to be aware of so we were good.
Staff here not so accommodating and they didn't say they had no generator. So 6pm came around and it was complete black out, not even in hallways etc. Had to go out for dinner by torch in not the most safe district.
We're pretty confident and ok with the black outs, if we'd been told that the hostel had nothing.
Overall, this place has a lot of great qualities to it. It's a very clean, contemporary space with very inviting communal areas. I stayed in a private room and it was better than most hostels I've stayed at. The staff is very friendly and helpful in arranging day tours. I really appreciated the property's proximity to the metro station and La Ronda for food options. The biggest drawback to this place (and what would stop me from staying there again) is the bar area blasts music very loudly until 10:30 or so. This happened every night I stayed there. On one Saturday night, someone had rented out the venue to host a birthday party and the music didn't end until after midnight. I understand it's nice to have multiple uses/streams of income with the property, but I think there needs to be a better balance between an evening social space and a quiet living space for guests to stay.
The building is lovely; the location is not. Way too much street noise to be able to sleep. If you're interested in meeting kind & friendly staff & foreign travelers & staying in a beautiful historic building with a lovely courtyard at a very reasonable rate, this is the place for you. But if you need quiet to sleep, it is not.
Huge studio room perfect for a family of 4. Common areas are clean with lots of options for activities. Location is perfect for wandering the historic district during the day with many restaurant options, including in the hostel, at night. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Being in an old building, the walls are pretty thin and the floors creak so if you are a light sleeper be sure to bring ear plugs
Beautiful, huge hostel with its own on-site restaurant/bar. The food was superb. The rooms were large and very clean. Excellent location in the Historical District. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This place can definitely get loud so if you are looking for quiet it may not be the one for you.
