Good option for 1st or last day of vacation. 30 min to airport. Fly Bus location right outside the front door. Restaurants including a Subway and grocery store within. 5 min walk. Would not be convenient to tours, etc if staying in Reykjavik your entire time. SMALL rooms & bathrooms. Smaller than a cruise ship cabin. Again good for a 1 nt option. Too small otherwise. Bed was not comfortable. There was a metal bar in the middle so you didn’t sleep next to your partner. I thought the rooms would have Viking decor, but they did not. Very simple/ plain. Reminded me of dorm rooms. Free pkg. Walk/ jog trail along the harbor just outside the front door. “Fair” price based on Iceland standards. Especially considering breakfast is included. Viking Restaurant with the hotel. Very popular. Usually have nightly entertainment. Outdoor seating facing the water if weather permits. For $100 they have a Viking feast containing many of the typical Icelandic foods like shark, lamb etc.

The bed was really hard, and the shower was difficult to get into since the bathtub was so high. Definitely not good for people who can’t step up or down out of the shower from the extra high bathtub. Breakfast started at 7:30, which seems a little late given that they are so close to the airport, and options seemed limited. Hot tub was nice, could not find sauna. Lots of construction going on. The restaurant was good, however seemed way overpriced for what you got. Viking decor was fun, and really the only reason why we chose to stay there. The room itself was larger than most of the ones we had during our weeklong stay as well, so that was definitely a plus.

8am arrival after a red eye flight

We selected the viking hotel because we saw the attached restaurants offered unique viking dining. Beds were a wonderful welcome after a long flight. We booked ourselves in a day early so our early arrival actually was a late checkin by hotel standards. But we went right to bed rested for a few hours then did some shopping locally.

This is a fun kitschy Viking themed hotel, every where you look there are carved pieces, horses, taxidermy etc. Breakfast included and was plentiful and warm. Although to the life of me after a week of being in Iceland, napkins are like an afterthought to Icelanders… never on the table never where you expect to find them!! Be sure to try everything -at least once- if as an American, you’ve never seen such things.

Cute place and enjoyable stay in a smaller town (my preference) but still very convenient area to go sightseeing as well as a beautiful view and walk along the harbour front! Breakfast was also great!

Very clean hotel

The hotel was very clean. The furniture was old, I believe is because of the Viking theme, but clean. The bathroom however was modern. The breakfast was very good.

Very nice hotel with a Viking theme. Friendly and courteous staff. Good variety of food in breakfast. There was a construction project which blocked off the driveway to the backside of the hotel and possibly some other parking spaces. Had to offload luggage and turn around to use the parking lot of another building next door. The driveway in front of the hotel entrance was tight for the maneuvering. Had there been more guests arriving at the time it would have been quite a hassle. The hotel could have notified guests of the parking arrangement ahead of time to avoid issues.

I was expecting it to be even more kitschy in the hotel. We weren't there for long - last stop before catching an early flight. The staff were super helpful and nice, the room was clean, and the location was great (waterfront and only 35min from the airport). The main downside was the size of the room. A two-person bed up against the wall meant that I literally had to climb over my husband at 4am (trying so hard not to wake him) to use the bathroom. There are probably bigger rooms in the hotel, but I guess the budget room is not the way to go, unless you are on your own. The walls were a bit thin, and i could hear a muffled conversation from the room next door. It has a pretty intense sauna and a small, warm-ish hot tub. Just a btw - the restaurant next door was best described as an Islandic Cracker Barrel (food wasn't bad, though).

Really fun place

Great hotel, second time staying there. Only thing is to be aware of the strong sulphur smell of the water when showering. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, very quirky in a good way. Lots of fun to stay there.
