Cute and Charming 2-bedroom home âą Self check-in âą close to DownTown
Up front, neighborhood is poor but in 6 years we have owned home, we have never had a problem. Best part about it is its accessibility to downtown and its central location is outstanding. For someone needing a clean, comfortable place to stay, it's a great option for Traveling Medical Profs. Business People or those wanting to get close to all the action of the area including the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail. The home features 1 queen bed, 1 full bed and a cozy living room with a futon. Our place will help you feel at home while you're traveling in Roanoke.
Oven did not work or go over 295 degrees, so we were unable to cook. The drier did not work either (just low heat, no tumble, and we were unable to wash our clothes). These amenities were important for our trip and were completely unusable. Lots of ants throughout entire house, including many in the shower, but overall clean. Short supplied; had to ask for toilet paper as there was none, towels for 2 out of 5 guests, and no sheets for futon. Host did not answer immediately but got back within the hour and had them delivered shortly thereafter. We did accidentally leave clothes there and host was very accommodating and met us to return them; appreciate that greatly! Plenty of parking and central location within Roanoke; stray cats everywhere outside so be prepared for that but that is nothing that the host can control. Overall, it was clean but could do with some upgrades, working amenities, and ant traps. It worked fine for the long weekend to spend our time at the lake and was a good price.
I was very disappointed by this rental, the fridge wasnât even hooked up to a water line, so no ice or filtered water. A few squares of toilet paper on a roll left, and no more in the house. No paper towels/napkins. The sheets in the bedroom to the left of the bathroom were stained and someoneâs hair was in them. The attic access was slightly ajar, which was a tad scary. There was a huge squashed bug on the curtain to the left of the fridge, where someone squashed it and just left it there. The mattresses are awful to sleep.on. The chair in the living room is sunken in and very uncomfortable. The AC in the living room/kitchen was quite lacking, leaving us overheated. This rental was like the beginning of a horror movie. I have never left a negative review before, however I very much DO NOT recommend this house.
The location is rough. Drove through the hood to get to the houseâŠwhich is also in the hood. The house itself is mostly clean, but really dated and the old. Thereâs parts of the kitchen floor that feels unsafe - very soft and spongy⊠like you might fall through. There was half eaten food in the cupboards and toiletries in the bathroom. It felt like we were staying in someone elseâs house. The front and rear porches are very dirty. The front porch is also spongy and feels like you could fall through. We left after 1 night and got a hotel room instead. We paid for the second night that we didnât stay there and felt like leaving was a fair trade off. We had trouble locking the door on our way out and we called the owner. He answered immediately and helped us. Probably the only positive part of the experience.
The home served our purpose; clean and accessible to VA Tech. The house needs some work; however, it was very clean and was comfortable for a quick over night trip. Parking was fair and the home is in a depressed area of town. Loved the small touches (peppermint patties!).
Not a part of Roanoke you want to spend any time in.
I give credit to the owners for making this house as welcoming as possible, but at the end of the day itâs still a dilapidated old house in a very sketchy part of town. Itâs affordable, and everything worked, but we never really felt safe.
I liked having a whole house and the option to bring my dog if I wanted⊠I wound up leaving him at home and not going with that option ⊠I guess I did not realize the walk to town was very hilly ( good exercise) and I m not in the best shapeâŠ. If I went there again I would have drove my car. I travelled by train. It wasnât that long of a walk but I m just not in shape to do mountain walking I wound up cooking some fish sticks because I was just too lazy to walk to the restaurants ⊠I like that one Jack Browns⊠the Walmart was a quick walk⊠just use Lyft app or there are scooters you could rent ⊠â spinâ.. if I knew about the scooters I would have brought a helmet⊠overall neat little house to chill if you want to see some sightseeing Brewery restaurants hiking⊠I went to a conference and I just donât like hotel rooms I like having a kitchen to use and stuff
