This is my new go to in SLC. Great location. Rooms are big and exactly what you expect them to be. This is not a 5 star hotel, but it has character for days and access to the bar and dinning room where great. Prices are unbeatable compared to downton SLC prices.
The check-in was easy and really quick. All the staff i encountered were ao kind and helpful. The bed was really comfortable and I slept great. They have a lot of extras in the room; free snacks and water bottles, shoe shine kit, sewing kit, they have thought of everything. The breakfast was so amazing there were lots of options to choose from. I would absolutely stay here again instead of a chain, it was perfect and really close to shopping, food, and things to do.
Felt like taking a step back in time in this quaint environment. We loved the atmosphere and the staff was very accommodating. Located in the heart of Downtown and has easy access to walk all the sites
Two points
1) I was told upon check out that there was a $5 fee that was supposed to be included when booking through Expedia, but was not. If there is an error between Expedia and Alta Club in terms of what should be charged, that is not the customer's fault and the customer should not be responsible to pay that fee.
2) A few days into my stay, I received a fairly accusatory telephone voice mail message (female voice), claiming that I was supposed to give my credit card to the clerk upon check-in and I somehow refused to do so. I can promise that that chain of events never occurred.
Very noisy fm traffic, city and construction. Bed was too firm and linens were rough. Sink drain was clogged and pedestal sink did not have space for toiletries. Dark lighting and old bldg; bfast was lame.
Close to several dining options within walking distance. Hotel felt safe because the doors lock at 9pm. The fitness center was big and had lots of different equipment.
We had a very nice stay. The Club was very quiet, well kept. The staff very helpful. As guests we were able to utilize all amenities as club members. We were only there for an overnight stay so we didn't use very much.
A hotel full of history - if you are looking for modern then this is not the place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable, a great location with excellent staff. Whilst we were staying the hotel was also being used as a film set.
