Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a weekend to kind of just enjoy not having to be home for a weekend and staying here was very nice; the view from the living room and balcony was amazing, was close to all the hotspots in SD and just felt like a second home. I was a bit of a chaotic guest leading up to the check-in and that is because of my work but the host Daniel was very helpful and patient with my mistakes and I appreciate what he did for us.

The VRBO listing for this property is essentially fraud. The photos and description are not accurate. The pros- The shower is hot with good pressure. The neighborhood behind this property is lovely to walk through. The cons- This run-down property basically overlooks a freeway on-ramp. The hot tub is in shambles with a shredded top. The kitchen faucet is falling off and has reversed hot/cold. The stove is missing nobs. All the windows are inoperable. The “AC” is a mobile unit in the living room with a tube incompletely duct taped to window. The washing machine is inoperable. There is a broken down truck in the driveway, so no parking. The fireplace is not operable as depicted in the misleading photos. The house has a very musty odor. The bed linens are worn and of poor quality. There are bags of discarded items scattered around the yard. This property is worth no more than 100 per night only because of the walking access to Mission Hills.
Where to start. Parking is horrible, very busy street, can't park in the driveway, your only choices were uphill or downhill.Entry to the front door, stair railing is wobbly, very steep, my father-in-law who has a cane had to crawl on his knees to get to the stairs. The home itself, no AC, must use open windows for airflow, however it gets very warm if you forget to close the curtains during the day, there is a window AC that doesn't work, and a home thermostat for an HVAC that doesn't exist. Musty / Moldy smell throughout the home, floors were not clean, and stains on all the furniture. Strong smell of dog urine. Bedrooms, probably the cleanest rooms, however, the main bedroom, everything is connected with extension cords plugged into other extension cords, the windows are cracked, and no dresser drawers. The second bedroom, there's a random extension cord that runs out the window, I'm guessing supplying power to the garage tenant. Bathroom. Floor is very dirty, found mouse droppings, the sink counter is cracked, thankfully didn't cut myself. The shower faucet is peeling away and very sharp edges. Kitchen, smell of mold, didn't feel clean enough to eat in, all the appliances are rusted. The stove was plugged into an extension cord which was the plugged into a surge protector, fire hazard. It does have a "doggy door" which is basically a hole cut by hand into a rusted metal screen door with sharp edges, not safe for smaller dogs. I can only say 1500 words :(

Pros: King-size Beauty rest bed and linens felt brand new and were extremely comfortable. The queen bed was also very comfortable with lovely linens. No driveway parking, during my 12-night stay I parked directly in front about 95% of the time, & next door the rest. No issues if you can parallel park. The shower had great water pressure and very hot water. The kitchen faucet is worn, but there were plenty of pots, pans, casserole dishes, and dish soap. The view from the driveway and dining area is exquisite. Watching planes from the nearby airport was especially exciting for our 2-year-old grandson. The backyard is small and uneven but fine for quick outdoor time & evening blowing bubbles. The large jade tree is beautiful. The host was very responsive. When the keypad lock didn’t work due to door alignment, he immediately provided lockbox access. He also quickly responded when we had AC concerns.Cons:Upon arrival it was 87F inside with no AC running. There is only one floor window AC unit, taped together & it failed to cool the house below 80F even in mild February weather. All of the filters and fans were completely clogged.Laundry machine did not spin out water, requiring very long dryer times, which overheated the house. The listing mentioned a dishwasher and children’s utensils — neither were provided.Several vintage Rope windows didn’t function, the bathroom has no exhaust fan, we had to prop window open.Could have been a bit less dusty but overal OK stay

Rocky Start but Ended Fine
We had to wait almost 45 minutes beyond the check in time to get in. The property manager was still cleaning when we got there for check in. We were very frustrated by this as we had been traveling all day with a 5 year old and were ready to settle in. Everything ended up being fine, but I never received a response from Daniel after expressing my frustration and asking for a discount for my family's inconvenience.
In addition, the lockbox code on the instructions was incorrect. They key didn't seem work on any doors once we did get it open. Instead we used the keypad lock to get in, which was fine. However, whenever we left the property, we had to lock the front door from inside and leave through the back door.
Arthur was responsive and helpful when we had questions.
The location is great. The house is older, but nice enough.

Never again.
Street parking only. There are wcrews holding down floorboards because the floors are all warped. O my the fridge in the kitchen worked. Nothing else including the jacuzzi worked because they’ve overloaded the electrical box. On day 5 of my 6 day rental, they sent an electrician. There was a used diaper stuffed behind a piece of furniture, the floors were filthy. I don’t know when the photos were taken but don’t be fooled. I’ve repeatedly asked to speak with either management or the owner and got nothing. I paid a fortune for amenities that didn’t work and haven’t heard anything nor seen a penny refunded. Stay literally anywhere else. Will be in touch with my credit card company to stop payment and filing a complaint with VRBO. This was extremely disappointing.
Started with trip with meeting the host and he was super nice! When we first walked in nothing but heat. They have a portable AC in the living room but you can’t feel it since it’s a larger room. Room 1 (King bed) TV was not working hot as well (sucky fan) the outside motion light come into the room. Room 2 (Queen bed) Good (the only room that was “cold”) Kitchen provided with everything. Outside I tripped about five times from the bricks so be careful. Very nice hot tub, was only outside for a little since the neighbors are VERY close. Good thing I texted the host about check-out requirements since that is not posted/ was not told to me when I booked. We did notice that some of the couch cushions smell a little like cat urine. One of our guests did wake up to 2 bites (it could be from a mosquito but we weren’t outside for long) Overall the host are very nice people the house is gorgeous just very hot but it’s definitely summer in san diego.
The property sits atop a steep hill, so the first thing I noticed was the breathtaking views of downtown and the harbor. The house is older, so there are huge bay windows in the spacious living room that offer panoramic views of the city. The house only had a portable AC unit, but it's San Diego, and the weather is pleasant most of the year. The bedrooms were spacious and well decorated. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The backyard was cozy, with patio furniture, a fire pit, and a non-functioning hot tub. The only downside of my visit was dealing with the host.Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to cancel. I contacted the host 11 days before our scheduled stay to see if we could cancel, and he said no. I contacted him again the next day to see if we could postpone. I attempted to contact the host on the chat feature on the app and on the cell he provided. It took him three days to respond with the message "I cannot modify or cancel at this stage." Once at the house, we found outlets that did not work, and the TV in the master bedroom had a non-functioning remote. We attempted to use the hot tub, but there was no power. I contacted the host, hoping to get instructions on how to turn it on, and his only response was "it's already on." These inconveniences might have been tolerable were it not for the unprofessional attitude of the host. I've been using this app since it was HomeAway, and this was by far my worst experience with a host.
It looks like the pictures on the Web, nice views, great beds, large and gas lots of amenities.

House was not clean, lacking in safety, but excellent view!
The homey feel that the pictures represent died down as soon as we walked in as the house was not clean properly, very hard to climb up the unevenly finished old stairs with luggage , the driveway was so narrow we could not open the doors with our rented Subaru wagon , home is unsafe as all locks and windows are in disrepair, only one key to open wrought iron doors, that one key only opens those doors and since we had a child and accidentally locked the inside wooden door we were locked out on 2 occasions , once we had to call the property management and waited nearly an hour for response, very unsafe feel and the home looks abandoned and uncared for, weeds over took the steps onto jacuzzi and side of home. I personally Do not recommend this home, and there was no AC and after the sunset you are subject to heat exhaustion here.
Owner was very responsive and took care of all of our requests. Fresh, clean, nicely decorated unit. Great view of the San Diego 4th of July Fireworks! Enjoyed the hot tub also.
