Cabana Suite – Private Ocean-View Retreat
The Cabana Suite is located on the lowest level of a newly remodeled contemporary home. Completely private, the suite is only connected to the main house by a secure door that remains locked — giving you your own independent space.

Guests enter from street level, where there’s ample free parking, and descend about 12 steps to the suite’s private entrance.

The neighborhood:
The property is only a 10 min drive from the San Diego International Airport & similar distance to Sea World, Mission Beach/Bay, Gaslamp, Little Italy, Balboa Park/Zoo & other attractions. Even closer to Ocean Beach, Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) & Thursday Club. The ocean, cliffs & small beaches in the area are located about a 10 min walk from the guest suite

At the bottom of Point Loma Avenue, you'll find a convenience store (Sea Trader), Pizza place (Rosarios), Mexican restaurant (Sunnie's), small bistro (Little Lion) & gas station. Ocean Beach & Point Loma offer plenty of restaurants, bars & nightlife to enjoy! Jensen’s grocery store is a quick 5 min drive away for gourmet prepared goods & groceries.

My favorite, local Sunset Cliffs beach is at the end of Santa Cruz Street. You'll see the stairs down to access the cliffs & the beach. During the summer season, lifeguards are on duty as well. I also enjoy a run from the property to the end of Orchard Street where you can make your way to this same beach area with some walking on rocks and dirt path. Amazing in the morning or at sunset. Liberty Station is a short 10 min drive with a great Public Market with tons of small restaurants & local shops. There is plenty of free street parking right across the street from the unit. We also offer eBike rentals to explore the area.

Accessibility:
There is a set of stairs (about 12 steps) down from the street & a few steps up to the main entry door which older or limited mobility guests should consider.

Once in the unit, it's a single level guest suite. There are a few steps down to the fire pit & outdoor dining area.

eBike Rentals:
We have 2 eBikes for rent. The cost is $50/day per bike for the 1st day and $25/day per bike for any additional days. There's a basic rental agreement to sign + a $200 damage/loss waiver fee collected at the time of the rental. This is returned at the end of the rental if no damage or loss of equipment.

Early Check-in or Late Check out:
We try to accommodate requests for early check-in or late check out as best as we can depending on the Cabana Suite rental schedule. Please ask us in advance if needed as it's especially difficult to adjust the cleaning schedule for check outs.

If available, we do not charge for arriving 2 hours early (1 pm check-in) or departing 2 hours late (1 pm check out). If requesting an earlier or later check-in/check out beyond this 2 hour window, please ask us for pricing as it can depend on the season and the number of extra hours you need.

Every thing was above and beyond what needed to be done. He answered any questions we had, let us check in early, had a welcome basket with snacks and great information and a bottle of wine! The place was immaculate! All the extras, including slippers. Loved the indoor/outdoor concept with the glass garage door wall that you can open up! The firepit was beautiful. The outside swing was a nice touch. And the view is AMAZING! We are already planning to come back next year!

This place is absolutely amazing—just like the photos, modern, spotless, and beautifully maintained. It’s tucked away in a lovely neighborhood, and at night it’s so peaceful you can even hear the crickets. John has truly thought of every detail, from the super-soft anchor-patterned sheets and complimentary slippers to the thoughtful welcome basket with wine, snacks, and even fresh lemons from their tree! Communication was quick and easy, and we also had the pleasure of meeting John, Michael, and their sweet pup, which made our stay even more special. A perfect getaway

We visit San Diego frequently and I am always leery of renting a space within someone's home. However, this rental is absolutely perfect. Sunset Cliffs is quiet and stunningly beautiful. Street parking was easy and there was never an issue finding a spot in front of the house. The outdoor space is incredible and we especially enjoyed the fire pit. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable with plenty of extra pillows and linens. The kitchen had everything we needed including a nice welcome basket of snacks and beverages. There are lots of little details that show the owners care about their guests' experiences (charging cords, clothing steamer, fresh basket of lemons, sunscreen, etc). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.

Spectacular EVERYTHING!

My husband and I visited our granddaughter and didn't get as much time as we would have liked to stay in the area. Boy do we wish we did! This rental was amazing with everything you could possibly think of there waiting for you. I have never slept on a more comfortable mattress and that means so muchb when you're on vacation.John was great with instructions on getting access and even welcomed us with a bottle of wine! Can't recommend staying here enough...we will and next time we will stay longer to enjoy all that is around.

Wonderful Gem Deep within Sunset Cliffs

Great lower unit with patio and view. Parking is no issue. Groceries and restaurants are near by. Neighborhood is hilly but walkable with amazing views of the ocean, which is a small walk down the hill. We were able to relax in mid-winter with the large door to the living space open letting in the fresh air. The property owners were wonderful to work with, responsive to all needs and questions, and checked in repeatedly to ensure everything was going well.If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in an outstanding location, this is a property for you.

Great Stay

This was the best VRBO stay we've had. Everything was as advertised and more. From check in to check out, our stay was easy and smooth. John is very helpful any time his help is wanted and the attention to detail for this rental is unmatched. The location is perfect for San Diego and is in a quiet neighborhood. We went everywhere from downtown to old town to La Jolla within 15-20 minutes of this location by vehicle. I'd absolutely recommend this place for anyone wanting a nice, relaxing vacation to San Diego.

Great location. Very clean. Loved that we could open the garage door and live indoor/outdoors. Would have loved to try the fire pit but didn’t have the opportunity. John was a very gracious host; before our stay I asked if the vrbo had a cookie sheet, he bought one and had it in the kitchen waiting. As he knew I was cooking part of a Thanksgiving dinner, he asked if I needed to borrow any other items. We will definitely stay here again when we visit the area.

To start, we will be back. We arrived late in the evening and with a short walk down the stairs, to the back of the main house, our stay started. The interior was clean and modern. With the morning sun rise, the views of the Pacific Ocean were breathtaking & picturesque. It was quiet, with friendly neighbors. We want to go back in order to open the overhead door and enjoy the weather.

Awesome Stay!

We could not have been more pleased with our four day stay. The location was excellent to get to the best that San Diego had to offer easily. Immense attention was paid to all the little details that made our stay feel like home. There were several little extras. The roll up garage door is an excellent feature. There was a clear view of the Pacific Ocean with nightly sunsets. There was even an outdoor fireplace. The hosts left many helpful recommendations for local eateries. The stay far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing stay.

Peaceful getaway in Point Loma

We were so comfortable in the suite it was hard to leave! The bed was incredibly cozy, the place was spotless, and the stocked coffee bar was a much appreciated touch.
