Comfortable. Clean. Great spot for ramen around the corner on Geary Street at TonTon. Good cardio walking uphill on Mason to summit Nob Hill, which at the time of my visit was decked out for Pride.
If you walk uphill on Mason you’lll be rewarded with these great views.

Cute hotel, minor improvements could be good

The hotel is super cute. The staff is very friendly and the photos match the building. That said, they advertise an onsite bar (which would be nice after a day of playing tourists) and there wasn't one. There aren't great views from many of the windows (straight to a building). And the complementary toiletries in the shower were empty and not refilled over our 4 nights. There is one very small elevator that would have a line every time we needed to go up or down and we eventually took the stairs mostly. So if there are health challenges, that would not be an option.

Excellent stay for 3 nights. Originally had the standard room and with having a baby the room felt small especially staying for 3 nights. The room only had a fan as was warm with being high up on the highest floor. So I upgraded and was 100% worth it. The upgraded room was very spacious and had all things you needed. The staff were polite and friendly and went out their way if you needed anything. 5* stay. Would recommend. Thankyou

Preserved Boutique in Walkable San Francisco.

The King George Hotel is a nicely preserved hotel in the heart of San Francisco. It’s near walkable attractions like China Town, Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard St, and near many good restaurants that don’t require you to drive. It is in the Tenderloin, so you will see many unhoused individuals nearby, especially if you go a block or so north. The rooms may also feel pretty small, so if planning to stay more than 2-days, utilize the storage spaces they offer so you can move around.

The rooms and property are great for the price! Only challenge is the single elevator which is very small and mostly used by the cleaning staff in the mornings which is also busy time for check out when guests need it too

I always stay at the King George when I visit San Francisco. They have never missed each time I've stayed with them. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I also love that they're super attentive. I was lone female traveler and I felt safe thanks to them. Very personable people. I believe the interior of the building has had some remodeling since I last stayed here (pre pandemic). The theme has always been English style lodging, meaning the rooms are on the smaller side; if you've traveled to the UK or anywhere in Europe before you know what I mean. However, the bathroom seemed much smaller than before this time. I'm pretty short myself and it was tricky to move around it without hitting something. It's like Alice grows super big inside the White Rabbit's house, that's how it feels to be in their bathrooms... and I get it, it's the English style but even when I visited London, I don't remember being THAT entrapped in the hotel bathroom. So if you're a claustrophobic person, I think you should stay somewhere else because the bathroom will freak you out. Other than that, it was a chill stay. Area around the hotel is relatively safe, so long as you don't make a wrong turn when you walk to the left side of the hotel (the wrong turn is the side NOT going towards Union Square). It's in a central location of the city so you're close to everything.

The folks at the front desk are so pleasant to talk to. It's very convenient to public transit. My room was quiet and clean. The lobby is comfortable. There was fresh fruit and donuts available in the morning. I found myself wishing there was slightly brighter lighting at the desk in my room, but that was certainly not a deal breaker. I hope to stay here again.
