The property is undergoing some renovations so there were some obvious signs of that. Our room was large but felt oddly empty and the mattresses were exposed and not in great condition. In my opinion they needed an area rug in the room to warm it up - hardwood floors although pretty were just a bit cold feeling. No art or anything on the walls. It felt incomplete. But the hotel is located in a great downtown area w lovely shops and restaurants.

This property is undergoing a major renovation. The new owners are bringing up to Current day expectations. The building and interior architecture is amazing if you like historic buildings. The rooms are very spacious and looks like they will be very nicely decorated upon completion. Highly recommend the bakery next-door attached to the hotel for a quick breakfast in the morning.

Great place to stay !

I had a great time at the “Carlton Hotel”. Great location for everything you may need. They were having a re-model, but it didn’t put a negative to my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Never was able to check in. The Hotel said Expedia over sold their rooms. And Expedia blamed it on the Hotel. I told the manager of the Carlton Hotel to call around and get me a comparable room, and he did. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Great room. And Expedia payed the difference. We had a great stay and great coffee (included) in the morning. I always have liked HIE.

Improvements will be beautiful. There are some tweaks to consider. Some wall plates do not allow smart phone adapter to plug in. Need another chair in the room. The toilet handles needs jiggle to shut off. One jet in the tub did not work. And the right side does not leave enough room to lift yourself out of the tub with both arm/hands.

The property is so pretty and is at such a perfect location for food, ale houses, and beer gardens. Even the mobie theater is within walling distance. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The only thing that was any issue was the AC in the room didnt feel like it cooled the room at all, but once the drapes were closed to keep the sun oit, it was far more managable.
